On the plunger rod of my new Sawtooth, there is a weird piece of plastic beyond the plunger head. I'm afraid it is messing with the ranges of the gun because it seems that darts would be fired my just being whacked by the plastic piece. (Note: I have NOT put a barrel on it yet).

I'm calling out to all of you who have modded a sawtooth. What does this piece do, does it hurt ranges, and could I just saw it off?

I sawed it off.

EDIT: I should probably mention I'm having seal troubles so darts won't fire... I've had the problem since I replaced the barrel.

Yeah, I plan to do that. Do you think you problems were caused by sawing the thingy off?

Anyway, more input is still appreciated, and I'm still curious about the thing's original purpose--anybody know?

There are pics of internals elsewhere on the site, just none of the plunger. I'm sure somebody here knows. If you really want a pic, Bob, I can post one, but I don't think it is necessary.

I don't think Thats what caused it. I think my oring'plunger thingy shrunk because thats not sealing.

I'd keep it.

After cutting mine off, and singling it, it won't work. I'm not sure if thats the problem, but it could be, I see nothing else wrong...

On my Supertoothmaxx, I left it on, and got ranges in the high 50s so I was happy. I'd leave it on.

It's just screaming to be rearloading...

I seen a movie about that once.

Yeah, well, I was only asking people who had modded the Sawtooth before. You obviously haven't.

I believe that part holds the clip in place when firing...Nothing but that. If I find my stock one I'll see.

New problem: I put the gun back together, exactly the way it was before, and it doesn't work. It cocks and shoots once, doesn't cock, or doesn't shoot. All I have done is wrapped duct tape around the plunger to cover the hole.
