A few weeks ago, my Longshot's sled broke after I put a BBB spring in it. I came here to look for ways to fix it, and found something about how the dart tooth being put in wrong makes the sled break. Now I'm hesitant about putting the BBB spring in my new Longshot.
So my question is; Would a BBB+LS spring combo make the sled break? Or did I just put the darth tooth in wrong? Thanks in advance.

YES! If you put a BBB spring in your LS, don't put the LS spring in as well. That's probably what broke your first one. The sled may need reinforcement as-is if its a new gen. one.

Theres NO difference between "1st gen and 2nd gen" longshots, just color.

I do NOT recommend putting in a BBB spring at all, the power is tremendous, but it will destroy the gun with <100 shots. A NF spring yields 40- 60 feet, in my experience. Depends on the dart used, and barrel.

My overall favorite is AR15 spring because of how it hows the plunger rod, doesn't ring, is REALLY powerful, and still able to be cocked with one hand. But with this replacement, you should do Captain Slug's plunger head replacement, with some metal washers and rubber washers (search around for it, its somewhere )

Good luck!

Try streaching a Nite Finder spring and add that with the longshot spring. That what I got in mine and i have primed that thin at least 100 times and nothing has happened yet

That's a 1-1/2"d 1/8"t neoprene fender washer. Which I sandwhiched between two 1-1/4" steel washers plus a finishing washer and then screwed the combination onto the stock plunger rod.

Keef-Thanks for clearing that up. I thought I remembered someone saying that the new ones were weaker or something, but I definitely trust you on that. The rest of my statement still stands though, 1000.

Okay, I HAVE to get in on this.

First off, I have a BBB AND and an LS spring in my LS. The reason I had to fix it recently is because of stupidity on my part, not because of the power behind it. I can cock it just fine and I've fired upwards of 1000 rounds through it and it works great.

Now, there IS a difference between the 1st and 3rd gen LSs. 3rd gen, the parts are made from cheaper plastic than the first and second gen ones. I specifically ask for first gen when I buy from ppl on here because I have a first gen LS.

Mind you, this eventually won't apply to me in any way, shape, or form because I'm gonna get my LS internals machined from 440 Stainless Steel, Aircraft Aluminium, and maybe if I have the money, Titanium (catch plate)

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read that stretching isn't good for springs.

I think I'm just gonna do what Keef said and leave the NF spring in there. 50 feet isn't as good as 80, but it's way better than a broken gun. Oh, and what does AR15 stand for? I did a search on it and nothing came up...

AR-15 = ARmalite model 15. It's a semi-automatic, publicly available version of the M16. The spring in question is the buffer spring, and can be purchased on eBay from a guy named ModMan.

Ahh, if only I had some way of online payment. Any possible chance I could find a spring like that in a store?

If so many people are having no problems at all with both an LS and BBB spring, than just a BBB spring is definitely not going to break your gun. That's what I have in mine, and I've put well over 300-400 rounds through it without even a sign of trouble.

But then again, I have a 1st gen LS. I don't know if that makes any difference.
