My friends and I don't mod (we use almost all automatic weapons, you see), but I've saw a Max Shot around and am tempted to buy one. How does it fire stock, considering we mostly use Wildfires? Could it be a sniperish weapon out of the box?

I've heard it fires about 35 feet out of the box. I don't exactly see how it will be automatic but w/e. I'm also fairly sure its pretty accurate for a non-modded gun. Check on some of the modding sites, it ususally tells you the range and accuracy beforehand.

P.S. They are pretty cheap (For a new gun, 10 bucks CAN is good, The Urak Hai [However you spell it] Is 30 CAN if you guys want a marker of the prices in CAN)

Well, I wouldn't consider it a great sniperish weapon stock, but it says it shoots up to 45 feet. Mine is only getting 25 out of the box, which is near the same range as a WF, so I wouldn't use it unmodded.

Thanks, I'll price it up and see if it's worth taking a risk with.

How about maybe a crayola mod, would that do any good?

No, just get some cpvc and a cpvc coupler. Open up the gun, take out the red barrel. Then saw off the white thing to abotu a few inches and glue the cpvc coupler on. Now you can fire stefans using a breech.

If you dont use stefans...:

Get a pvc coupler, and pvc. Open the gun up and take out the red barrel. Saw the white part off a few inches and hammer some pvc on. Then glue the pvc coupler on. Then make another barrel for it. Now you have a pvc breech loadet aht fires stock darts. PM me if you want some more details.

Well, if you're gonna mod it, you should be prepared to have to eventually open it up all the way to fix the plunger tube. The red part that the giant missiles fit onto helps protect the white barrel, which is attached to the plunger tube, which is sensitive to being cracked if the white barrel is manhandled too much.

In any case, the Max Shot is a fun weapon stock, the darts are pretty hefty and are fun to hit people with, but the accuracy isn't great. If you want to eat shit, definately do a mod on this gun. You don't have to do cxwq's great brass mod, just do a simple PVC mod like Thirst is describing. You will be glad you did. But, like I said, you will probably eventually want to open it up in time, to fix the leak that is caused by a cracked plunger tube.

So, I've got it, and it's cool, but i think it may need a bit more range to be of any major use.

The Foam Fortress seems easier than the mod Thirst is quoting - is that just me being a n00b? I don't think I have access to any hot glue, so electircal tape may be a better option.

If i do the FF mod, will I be able to use a foot long piece of PVC to shoot stock darts from?

No, im just saying a simple overview of the most basic maxshot mod out there, fore cpvc(stefans) and pvc(stock darts). You can do either one. The FF one is meant for micro stefans though...So your better off doing a simple breech pvc mod.

Yes, the FF mod will work on stock darts. You just don't put brass in the 8-12" PVC. And yes, the FF mod is extremely easy. It helps if you have a dremel, but you don't need to.

I'll explain what I actually did.

Me and my dad salavged what we could from the garage, this including an aliminium coupler and a foot of 1/2" chromed copper. We put that together, with eletrical tape. It doesn't fire stock darts, and i don't make my own, so i ripped the head off a stock and used some white tack as a weight. Pushing the darts halfway down gets at least 50 feet, I haven't got a longer range to measure just yet.

Thanks a lot for your help, it is pretty cool.

Man all you need to do now is paint your gun random silver, gold, and bronze colours and you will have a nice bling-gun.
