Okay, before you say anything along the lines of "that's a waste" I had completely good reasons to do this. My at3k was acquired from a friend and I had to do repairs to it, even after those the rotation mechanism was still messed up. I also had a stock Firefly which I put its spring into my Vulcan. So, the Firefly didn't have a firing mechanism and the at3k didn't have a rotation mechanism. Perfect fit.

Overall, I put the at3k firing mechanism in the Firefly, did some work on the shell for the pump, took out the air restrictors, and the flash system still works, even timed right with the at3k internals.
Finished product.

I had to shape the plastic on the top part of the case a bit where the valve is, at the back of it. You can't really tell unless you know where it is, it looks like part of the black tubing on the outside. I also cut the second piece of metal off of the valve and used it to reinforce the trigger, it's a tad flimsy. The trigger slides back along the rod until it hits the end, then it opens the valve.

Trigger, left and right. The plastic parts are from where I cut out for the pump.

It gets decent ranges, more than a stock Firefly but probably not as much as singled at3k. Three pumps and it's full.

God damn. It's mods like these, that give me a head ache about thinking about myself trying to do the same thing. Kudos on the mod though. How long did this project clock out at?

I'd say around 2 or 3 hours tops, I worked on it off and on and didn't really keep track of time. Most of it was doing a little modification or cut, fitting a piece, repeat. That probably took most of the time.

I hate dealing with modifications like this, so I'm impressed by anyone who can do one well, especially without a wire and keyring haha.

I can tell you've hung around the site before you became a member. Very nice and clear write-up. I'm doing something similar with a DTG and at2k. It's been done before though. How is the seal against the turret?

Yeah. Singled at3k's are able to reach 90'-100'. Although it's good that you've beaten stock FF ranges. Three pumps? Did you plug the pump? Most people go with four pumps. That should bring ranges up a little.

People really should get in the habit of posting actual ranges. Eyeballing, estimating, saying it gets similar ranges to another gun, etc. are all pretty much useless to me. I mean I'm not bitching about anyone in particular, but I see it so often where people never post ACTUAL measured ranges. Its not too hard to get out a tape measure and do it. If you can't get a tape measure, then don't even bother posting. I really like what Scavenger's done here, its super clean. But a singled AT3K hits almost 100' and a firefly can hardly hit 45' if that. I'd love to see some real measured ranges from now on. It just makes everything that much easier.

Good job Scavenger, keep it up!

very nice work there..... looks like nerf should have made it........well except for the hotglue, but we love hotglue.

I like how you handled the pump, I wish I had done that with my magstrike pump in hornet, it would be much stronger if I had.

Thanks for doing what I couldn't. When I was new to nerf and modding I attempted it. I soon realized I was way in over my head. I know realize it would be better that it wouldn't be hard to do. Good job. I like it.

I may have plugged the pump a while back, I'm not sure. The reason I stop at three is because with anything higher, the pressure on the valve is too strong for the trigger to open it. The plastic just bends, even with the metal. In a day or two I might open it back up to check the pump and remake the trigger. As for ranges, I actually do have a nice long hallway with tile in it, easy to measure, just haven't done it yet.

P.E.S.U., another local nerfer, had made a comment about how most people just duct tape the pumps to the bottom. I didn't like how flimsy that sounded so I went with this. It's very stable and the shell around the opening keeps the rod straight. Also, the handle from the at3k is only attached at one point, so it can tilt (forward or backward) to accommodate different grip styles.

As I've stated before, there are legitimate reasons for not posting ranges, namely that if your ranges are really good, people won't believe you. I don't post ranges for most of my mods because I don't want the arguments to start, so I say it fires as expected or this part of the mod added about ten feet to total range.

On the other hand, I understand your want for posted ranges. When I'm considering replicating somebody else's mod (which I still haven't yet done), the first thing I do is look for ranges. It really is a determining factor in deciding if doing a certain mod is worth it.

So I guess the only solution is to always post actual ranges (level shots measured with tape measurer, video recorded if possible) and then not make a bid deal out of the ranges posted. Problem is, people like to lie about how far their blasters shoot.

Thats hot.

Very clean, and a great first write-up. Im working on putting an AT2K into a LS front gun. Its friggin hard, there is no space in that thing.

Mad Props,

Try a hot glue seal. Like in the Doomsayer write up. It won't be 100% air tight but it will help quite a bit.
Also please tell me you are doing a barrel replacement.

Good work on this.

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.
