This is something I have been meaning to do ever since I made the Blaster List for the Nerf Wiki. Basically it's a duplicate of the Blaster List, but instead of just being organized Alphabetically, the blasters are also organized by shell color, barrel/post number, power source, and stock ammunition type.

http://nerfhq.com/wi..._Identification

It's mostly done. It should allow quick identification of blasters based solely on the physical characteristics of it.

If you find that the blaster you are trying to identify is not represented on the wiki, Please post a picture so we can identify it and add it to the wiki.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

Just to let you know you put the nitroquad under pump and in the description it says spring powered. Also the gun is an ambidextrous gun. Just thought I should tell you.

You might think about putting the airtech jet squadron under the "glider" ammo type as well. The original darts it came with had adjustable wings and fins.

This is very cool though.

That's a really good idea. That should be a big help to the rest of the NIC.
CaptainSlug FTW!

Sorry about the AOL-speak. I thought it was rather suiting.

I'm actually really excited about these. These may be small but I think they will be very useful when I use my ninja skills.

Nice job, but wouldn't it be a lot easier to use as well as maintain if you used sorting tables? I realize it might be a little bit aggravating to try to identify a gun based on multiple characteristics using this system, but I'm not so sure that your system is any more efficient at that ( no offense ).

Shouldn't the Titan be put under "proprietary" ammo? I know its missiles have their own name and everything, but so do some of the guns in the proprietary section, and they don't fit on any other gun. Just a thought.

A couple things to edit CS:
  • The Detonator isn't on the list. Though you slam the plunger down with your hand, it should be listed as stomp.
  • The Vulcan should also be listed under spring-powered as it has the capabilities to be fired one shot at a time and, though a motor is used for the main firing mode, it is a plunger that actually propels the dart.
  • The Gyro Strike is a hand crank power source. It is quite similar to the Buzzsaw and the Ripsaw except it has two spinwheels, but a pull of the trigger pushes the dart into the wheels.
Very good idea. I will let you know what else there is out there that may not be on the list.

I have no proficiency at programming. If when I had first made the blaster list I had been a bit more obsessive about having the characteristics listed there as link references on each blaster page, then the wiki could have provided me with the lists for each section of this page.

If the database were much larger or updated more frequently, then bothering to code an automated tabling system would make more sense.

Rambo & Badger: It's a wiki, not Cap'n Slug's blog. If you thing something should be different, nothing is stopping you.

I know... but putting in editable tables is not an easy edit - it is quite time consuming... just throwing it out there in case CS was interested.

What power source is the pen-blaster under? Because it doesn't use air to push the dart, but a physical push by a spring.

Don't want to shove balls in tight spaces. Trust me, bad idea.

List is as complex as I feel like making it at the moment. Color categories with enough items to make refinement difficult can be clicked on to bring up a new page with all of the sub items sorted by barrel/post count, power source, and ammunition type.

I just realized that the light storm isn't up. I saw a picture of one and couldn't find it in the directory. I got luck and figured out what it was from the paint jobs thread (Thanks Keef). Just thought it might be nice to add to the directory.

It obviously hasn't been updated in a while, there are a lot of blasters not in there.
