Usually, when you fire an air-pressure gun you get a SINGLE POP or POOF or something along those lines. Instead I get what sounds like a very fast series of pops and the dart goes all of 5 ft at 4 pumps on a BBBB, at 12 pumps the dart shreds itself and I get a crack in my PETG. It also seems like the darts tend to want to flip around in the barrel, I've had a short stefan fold in half and get stuck before. Any ideas what might be causing this crap?

The only thing i can think of right now that could cause those last symptoms is if your hot glue is severely rubbing against the inside of the barrel.

I would probably go sit in a corner and cry because apparently the gods of nerf hate you.

Seriously though, open her up and take a few pictures and we can take a look.

What size petg are you using if your darts can fold up?

I initially thought that too, but it still happens with darts that don't have hot glue anywhere near the sides of the darts.

Im using the thick walled Modman stuff, same size as OMC's stuff. The short micro stefan was about 3/4" long.

Maybe there is something on the inside of your barrel scrapping the dart, maybe some glue or something. that could explain the ranges, but it would take a sizable piece of glue to mess with ranges that bad.

It could just be that your darts are too small for your barrel.

I had an AT2k that I was running with a crayola and pvc setup for stock micros. Most of the time it shot like a beast, but regularly, a dart would become folded over in the pvc.

Look for a barrel material that allows the smallest amount of space around the darts.

I use couplers for all my barrels so I inspect and clean the barrels regularly, there's some white-ish strings that come off the inside walls during cleaning but it gets worse if I clean them all out, Odd:(

The darts have a good fit, you can blow it out, but it won't fall out on it's own.

If you have to twist your dart into your barrel then it's too small of a barrel.

Nope, no twisting, just an ounce or two of pressure.

Edit: Thanks for your help guys, I guess I'll switch to brass or aluminum now.

That's why we buy from the source: OMC ftw (though personally I find brass a better fit for my darts, but at $.50 a foot you can't go wrong).

Whoa whoa whoa, seriously?!

In the last year I've been lurking i NEVER saw that, I always thought it was too small, but never confirmed it. The 1/2 cpvc I have is so tight i have to twist it, so what should i be using?

Try 17/32" brass. My favorite barrel next to CPVC ;)

Depends on what you want to shoot.
If you want to shoot Micros perfectly, Forget CPVC Get 1/2 SCH40 PVC
But if you want to shoot Stefans get 1/2 SCH80 CPVC
All up to your preferences though.

Also, 3/8" SCHD40 has an ID of .483", which makes it slightly larger than the CPVC usually talked about which has an ID of .469".
