[Boss18]

Im fairly new to guitar.Ive benn playing bass for 3 yrs but switched to guitar about 3 weeks ago.Could anybody suggest a fairly easy/moderate guitar solo to play?Thanks in advance

Yeah but he wants a solo. Try learning the solo from "Nothing else matters" by Metallica. They have a bunch of youtube videos that teach how to play it, just search around a little.

@keef-I've been playing for about a year and I still don't know the exact notes for Smoke on the Water. I guess I'm just weird though.

EDIT: Yeah, Holiday is easy too, I just like Nothing Else Matters more.

Try the solo to Holiday by Green Day. I figured that one out in ten minutes.

Try looking at any Green Day songs. Really easy.

As Butt said, know your scales and your arpeggios. It works well enough on trombone!

Keef beat me to it, but yeah, "Smoke On the Water". It's easy, it sounds great, and i beleive it was my first song i learned through the internet.

Anyway: He wants a solo. The solo for Smoke on the Water is not for beginners. I would suggest Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. The solo for it is very, very easy. If that is easier than what you'd like, I would go with Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC. The solo is easy, but it is fun to play.

I never said it was hard. I said it wasn't for beginners. I am also going to call bs on the fact that you just picked up a guitar one day and played that solo. Post of a video you playing this, and I will believe that a complete beginner can play it. Not trying to sound like a dick, but I just don't believe it.

If you want really easy then Black Sabbath. Iron Man, War Pigs, Electric Funeral. War Pigs is weird, but thats just me. The others are fairly easy.

thanks for all the great suggestions, and while learning a few i stumbled upone the song One by Metallica.the opening solo is actuall pretty east if you can stretch your fingers fast.
