i sold my mildly modded ls to my friend for $50. i was wondering what you guys thought a good primary would be for about that much. im fairly good at modding, but i can't do anything too big yet. i am hoping to go to a NERF war soon, but school starts the 18th so ill probably go next year.
Thanks in advance,

I personally have modded many guns, and have found that 2 very solid candidates are the big salvo and the Airtech 3000. The Big Salvo is a great shotgun, and the Airtech is a good medium range gun. Also both are pretty easy to modify, the Big Salvo is the easiest.

-Upperhand

EDIT-both are under 50 dollars

All of the suggestions in this thread are good (except the Hornet, if they're good then they're good, but there are massive quality control issues with them). I recommend the Big Blast. It's about $9, and if you don't plug the pump then it still is capable of 100+'. With a pump plug it can get 135-150' or more.

I can vouch for Big Blasts. I have used mine in two wars so far, and with the pump unplugged, it still gets great ranges, and is super cheap. A good long range primary for the price, and ROF isnt that bad either.

I agree get a big blast, I found a bunch on clearence at Wallgreens for 5 bucks. So try that, they're easy to mod and get good results.

Edit: Looks like BustaNinja beat me to it.

While I love my clearence 5 dollar Big Blast as much as the next guy, I am concerned about its rate of fire as a primary. I would reccomend a big bad bow because it is faster to reload. A big blast requires about five pumps to fill the tank, while with a big bad bow, you simply draw it back. I love the big blast, but I think that its better used as a long-range secondary than a primary, because if you minimize it, it is ridiculously light and pretty small.

I did just buy my big blast, and am messing around with it more to see what it's capable of. However, I think that a primary should almost always be a gun that you can reliably fire once every five seconds without having to pump a tank like a crazy person.

Ha, my barrel setup (a simple speed loader and side mounted ammo holders) works wonders and can let me shoot that fast if I am feeling like it. But really, at a nerf war, its more about putting shots in accurately, because you can't shoot as fast.

I agree with the big blast lovers, though I dearly love my crossbow. If you are looking for a bit more ROF, I would reccomend the Supermaxx 1500. It is discontinued, and only available through this site, NHQ, or ebay.
It has a good ROF, and gets about 90ft. I used to use one, but it is now integrated into my crossbow.

If you're still not too confident of yourself, stay away from the Hornet, it makes even some of the more experienced members here nervous. It's very inconsistent.

I'd recommend a BigBadBow, as with a barrel replacement you can achieve good 70'-80' ranges.

Don't bother with a Titan, as they're not allowed pretty much at any war. I'd only buy one if you were bored and wanted to see how far you can lodge a foam dart into something.

Singled titans aren't allowed at most any war. I'm not sure about the restrictions on shotgunned ones.

Agreed. Do NOT get the Hornet. I bought a Hornet at TRU for $20 and I wish I bought the $15 LBB instead. ;-;

For a Primary I would take a CPVC coupler'd single'd Longshot or a SuperMaxx 1.5k.

I think that all of you who have recommended a Bbb to this guy have never been to a war, or are completely out of your minds. It takes a hell of a lot to get them up to the average ranges for a good sized war. The rof is nowhere near as important as accurate shots. Spray and pray won't work in reality.

Apoc had no one using a hornet or RF-20 if I remember correctly. Though I never got to see what Slug was using.

Yeah, I'll concure. BBB would be great. Big Blast would be good. Also, the Spy Gear gun is fucking incredible. I'm in love with it. Avoid long shots. No one at Apoc really did much with one. I think they're just too hard to mod.

Good luck to you. But I think that everything that can be done to it has been done. Several members have couplered them and I have integrated a pocket shot, singled it, and 2k turreted it although I did have a plan to integrate an at2k in one.

I beg to differ. I also use a BBB with a coupler and speed loader getting 88 feet on average.

Yes i agree, the BBB has an "OK" ROF, and gets fairly good range considering its a springer.. ON TOPIC: My primary would be my BBB with my brand new double nightfinder manta.

Do what fits your play style.

Get a Big Bad Bow or a Big Blast for long range.

An Air Tech 2000 or 3000 are both effective in most ranges.

I personally recommend an AT3k for balanced long range shots and a good rate of fire.
