Most people do not use copper. The whole point of a barrel replacement is to have a better fit on the darts, to build up sufficient pressure behind the dart to propel it farther. Oh and fix your spelling, and capitalization, and don't use abbreviations such as y for why. It is all in the code of conduct, which you should read.

The quality of your posts is usually directly related to the quality of your experience here. Fix your capitalization/etc. and your life will be much easier.

Never use copper, it's shit.

Replacing the stock barrels with Brass or PVC/PETG (types of plastic pipe) increases range, and in many cases increases accuracy. As mystefansdontflystraight said, it provides a better fit with the dart, so more pressure builds up behind it and propels it further. Long barrels make the most of the air output of more powerful guns which is usually wasted with shorter barrels. Either way, the object of barrel replacement is to increase the performance of the gun.

But remember with a longer barrel, the dart keeps building up friction the farther it goes until it stops.

Exactly, so longer barrels are only for more powerful guns.

Fix your spelling before your next post or one of the admin might give you the 9999 day special. Barrel replacement increases both accuracy and range. copper bends too easily, i tried it once and got my dart stuck. petg and brass are the 2 best barreling materials (in my opinion).

It's been said already, No need to be the next ass in line to deal up a back seat admin ticket.
If it's been said and done let it be. :(

Christ kids...this shit isn't difficult. I mean the question is kind of a good one because I don't think we've really talked much about it, but I figured it would be pretty clear that we replace barrels because it betters it performance. I mean we're not just doing this shit cause it's pretty (most of us).

And yes, clean up your posts. And stop doing my job.

Why is barrel length so important and how long is too long?

Quick answer:
When air is expanding (after being compressed in the tank or plunger tube) it accelerates the dart. Once the dart leaves the barrel it can no longer gain speed. At the point it continues to slow down until it hits the ground.

So, the longer it's in the barrel, the longer it can gain speed, and the faster it leaves the barrel the farther it will fly.

However, if it is in the barrel too long (i.e. the barrel is too long) then the force of the expanding air isn't sufficient to accelerate the dart, so the friction between the dart and the barrel causes the dart to slow down, resulting in a decreased dart speed and shorter ranges.

So, ideally, you want the dart to leave the barrel right when the dart stops gaining speed. This is very difficult to measure so the best thing to do is start with too long of a barrel and keep cutting it down until you achieve maximum performance.

This is why more powerful guns can make good use of longer barrels; the dart can continue to gain speed before it leaves the barrel.

I would say that what everyone else said but it also removes most AR's from guns.

Like on my TTG mod, a new barrel gives a tighter fit around the barrel, so more pressure can build. Pressure is the one thing that makes nerf guns work, and in the old barrels some of the pressure is lost because it escapes around the dart.

Replacing the barrel is about the cheapest thing you can do to it, a 10 foot thing of PVC only costs 3.00.

ok. Sorry for the spelling. I dident think it was that big of a deal. I dident know that if i missed a thing or two it made it an alian language. Im sorry that you guys care that much about how i tipe. I rilly am. I can not imagine liveing like that. And if questioning your rules is agenst the the rules then im sorry for that to. I was told that this was a cool website to get ideas and answers from. I guess i will tell him he was wrong. This is a cool website and some of you guys had some rilly cool ideas. But if you have to get this much "STUFF" for asking a question then forget it. And if you dont like how i tipe then dont post. Just skip it. Or if it bothers you that much, to were you nead to say something. Only one person had to say it. I GET THE POINT. Just because i dident tipe or spell to your standards dusent mean im stuped. or i cant read. so the more you say it just makes you look stuped (no offence) for not realiseing that it is on the post already. And im sure that an admin would understand not being a perfict speller or geting angry because peaple freaked out over something so small as saying "u" insted of you. Could you guys not read it. And if you rilly couldent then i would suggest relearning your abc's or reading outloud. And if all this is just to much to handle then im sorry you feel that way and this will be my last post. I rilly liked this place and i WAS recommending it to my friends, and fellow nerf players. so i would like to stay. But if im that much of a pain,or hasle,or inconvenunce. Then once agen im sorry and it wasent intended.

o and i forgot to say thank you to those who just answered my question. i new it did something but i dident know what. i thot it was like a paintball gun and increased accuracy. sorry if i sounded dumb because i dident know about the power thing. i am new at this. also sorry if this post sounded kinda mean. i am still a little mad about the other thing. am am truly grateful for the info. i look forword to geting more good advice and answers in the futer( that is if im not kicked). once agen thank you.

I cannot imagine making you do so. The rest of the post was rather uneccessary, wasn't it?

Whether or not you like our policy of descipherabilty is hardly the point. The point is that written communication is our only means of expressing ourselves in the medium of this site. If it is a struggle to comprehend what the fuck you are saying, than it is not worth our time.

I think you'll find that this is a common theme throughout life, in general. Other activities that are aided by serviceable communication skills include:

Recieving an Education
Finding Gainful Employment
Attracting Females
Contributing to Society in a meaningful way
Not ending up in a cold, dark alleyway as the juicy resevoir of filth pours out of the dumpster adjacent to your home and over your prone, unconcious body like so many missed opportunities.

In summary, I think we'll all be happier if you go back to being part of the silent majority. I'll be more than happy to expediate this process.

If you'd been paying attention you'd probably note that I misspell something in pretty much every post I make. And yet, you understood everything I said. When I start coming down on people for typos as opposed to a genuine lack of effort to communicate clearly, you'll have a valid point.

Yes, two things, apparently... But no, the point is not one of them. VACC makes a valid argument, but there is MASSIVE irony in the misspellings.

Sorry VACC. I understand that there is a great deal of difference, I just thought it was funny.

Don't be sorry.

Given the current influx of new members I simply want the spirit of the law to be clear. We're not interested in taking a fine toothed comb to anyone's posts. We simply want people to make an effort to write in a form that is conducive to clarity. If I can't tell where a sentence begins or ends, it becomes difficult to understand how the thoughts flow together. Likewise, if the words in a sentence are mangled and unrecognizable, what exactly a person is trying to get across becomes uncertain. Even in the worst case scenario, though, we're not going to get rid of anybody unless they display the inability, or lack of desire, to make themselves clear.

I, personally, am a horrible speller and quite helpless without a firefox spellchecker...I always have been. So, as long as I am posting from a PC other than my own, you'll just have to subsist on a steady diet of irony.

Now, seeing as the original poster is no longer with us, I'm going to close this thread.
