SPOILERS!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One I really noticed was when Golumn got Frodo to make Sam go away. Nothing like that happened in the book. Also, those statues in front of the orc tower? In the book, those statues only opened the gate when the Ring was near. Finally, there were two messed up parts at the camp:
1.) Aragorn had the sword with him the entire time, and he got it fixed the first time that he went to Rivendell. Elrond did NOT bring him the fixed sword.
2.) Aragorn already knew what the path was: Galadriel had told him, "When in doubt, follow the Path Of The Dead." No one told him what it was.
I thought it was very good. I really liked the part where Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli jump out of the boats, and the dead follow. I liked the fight scene between the Nasgul (Ring Wraiths, for those of you who don't know what the hell I'm talking about.) King and the Rohan King's daughter, whose name momentarily escapes me. Definetly worth seeing.

Anyways, they left out my favorite part (again, poor Tom Bombabdil). I was worried through the whole movie that the weren't going to have any of the scourning of the shire. They got half way through the movie and finally caught up with the third book in regards to Frodo and Sam and a bout a quarter of the movie in regards to everyone else. I was fairly worried at that point. I thought that whol aragorn king bit would was the end and then i would have been really disapoionted, but at least they had some of the book ending (which is about a third of the book after the ring is destroyed).
I was a little disappointed by changes in character, but there wasn't too much. Besideswhich I was expecting it after the second movie.
But all in all it was pretty amazing stuff, and I was fairly satisfied all in all. Sad that its over though.

I didn't mind so much the deviations from the book. Frodo getting rid of Sam, Elrond bringing Andúril, how Aragon learned of the paths of the dead, etc. My minor gripes had to do with the way some scenes were handled and a few of the things that got cut.
Gripes:
Denethor was shown to be quite insane. PJ didn't show us why he was insane. Important point.
The confrontation at Orthanc was left out. Very unfortunate, though I understand they filmed at least 10 minutes of Saruman and Wormtongue that may make it into the extended edition. Which leads to...
Pippin and the palantir. His motivations were less than clear because of the chopped scene at Isengard. And why oh why didn't they film it from his perspective? I would have much preferred seeing what Pippin saw in the palantir rather than seeing him bouncing around the fucking room with a flaming bowling ball.
Thought the opening scene with Smeagol and Deagol was rough at best. Smeagol was far too gollum-like before he even got the ring. He was supposed to be a more-or-less normal guy.
Non-Gripes:
The battle for Plennor Fields exceeded all my expectations. Way Too Cool.
Dead people rock.
These people can act! Éowyn in particular was fantastic in this film. All the hobbits were great.
Prerequisite nifty Legolas scene for the fangirls.
Gandalf kicking some ass with sword and staff at the gates of Minas Tirith.
Witch-King of Angmar gets serious screen time.
As previously mentioned, Aragorn and company hopping out of the ships with the spirit warriors in tow.
Overall I thought it was a fitting conclusion to a nearly perfect film adaptation. PJ deserves to get rich on this one. Can't wait for the extended edition box set.

I actually heard they wrote books based on the movies. You might want to read them, asshat.I thought it was good except the ending was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long and tedious.

As much as I like the books I don't mind him leaving that out.
I would have actually preferred a bit more ends tied up at the end of the movie. At least they could have given Éowyn a bit more closure.

And if they did have the scouring of the shire, the movie would have been four hours long.

SPOILZERS
Allthough they did change the way gollum was trying to kill sam and frodo. In the books he leads them to a troll camp where every one gets beaten senseless. The chapter name is out of the pan and into the fire, check it out. No friggin spiders. And I agree Cx, he did know what the road was previously, but for friggin iliderate people who only see the movies, they need to explain things. My only gripe is they made the part where the whole crew is getting on the boat at the end of the movie way to fucking long. They seriously did not need all that god dang crying and bullshit. All that was needed was a tear, a hug, and a good bye. THE END over all, best fucking movie. Were those actors of the hobbits and Gimli just short ? or were the other actors tall ? or was there virtual shit done ?

Yeah, okay, the ending did drag a little bit. I liked every second of the movie though. ...asshat...I did read them asshat, but they still made the ending to long. I mean they didn't even include the Part of freeing the Shire so there.

Ok, so the ending was nessecary seeing as the others didn't really have one. You have to realize that if they could, they would have made one long movie because in fact the books were really only one book....or....eh...6 really. My point being, out of all three it was the only one to actually have a real ending, if they hadn't ended it that way, I wouldn't like it. I feel that most people who bitch about the ending don't like movies, they like to watch people get the fuck beat out of them. I myself am an academy film fan. I like "good" movies, that most people bitch about and say sucks. Oh well.
Anyway. Crystal ball things? Palantir. Say it with me, Palantir. Archer guy? Legolas. Say it. Legolas. Kings daughter? Eowyn. Ok you know the drill.
I really liked it. I'm not a big fan of the books, read them, didn't shit myself or anything. Now Rotk almost did give me a small hemerage in the theater though. Action was non stop untill the end and they tied it all up very nicely. I was impressed.
One question though, what the hell was that white light shooting out of Minas Morgul?
Talio.

Wow dude, out of the pan into the fire is from the Hobbit. And there were spiders in both the hobbit and lord of the rings. Shelob (the big spider in Lord of the Rings) is in the second book, but the third movie.Allthough they did change the way gollum was trying to kill sam and frodo. In the books he leads them to a troll camp where every one gets beaten senseless. The chapter name is out of the pan and into the fire, check it out. No friggin spiders.
Correct me if i am wrong, but Denethor was crazy because
1. Baramir was dead
1.5. Faramir was probably dead
2. Gondor was screwed
3. Aragorn was comming to kick him out
4. Gandalf was in charge of the ring, and Denethor thought Gandalf was being stupid counting on Frodo.
I thought the movie made him to much of an ass in the beggining. I mean he was trying to save mina tirith in the beggining. But as he had more and more conflict he began to slowly lost interst in doing anything about it.

I thought it was great. It wouldn't have been that hard to include the confrontation and Isengard but the freeing the shire would have taken a while to do.

All the actors were about the same height, the hobbit actors were slightly shorter. In fact, the actor that played Gimli was the tallest of all the actors in the fellowship, at 6'1''. There were tons of visual effects, with virtual shit, the use of midgets, and the use of a 7' tall guy. It's in the Fellowship of the Ring dvd. Were those actors of the hobbits and Gimli just short ? or were the other actors tall ? or was there virtual shit done ?
