I bought a Nite Finder At Walmart. I opened it up and did the basic mods, AR removal and removing the peg. I have not had a Nite Finder before, but based on the reviews of stock and modded NFs, I expected a little more than what i got . I tested it flat and got 33 feet. It's range under a lot of of Nite Finders I have seen and heard of. Is there a problem with the gun? If so how can I get more range ? Or is it because i only took out the peg and the AR? Please give your analysis of the gun. Thanks

I think that's what mine got after just AR removal, but you can always replace the barrel if you want more range. Checking for leaks and replacing the o-ring would also be good ideas.

33 feet sounds about right.

I get 50 feet with a barrel replacement and the addition of a rubber band, and a little more if I put in a new spring.

I'm pretty sure to get great ranges you have to
1 replace the o-ring
2 replace the spring
3 add new barrel
4 use stefans.

That is above average for ONLY having the AR out.

However, please try to do a barrel mod.

The easiest thing is to put a piece of brass/PETG in the barrel already there.

Hot glue it up and you have a powerful NightFinder.

The extra power really comes from a new barrel. If you have the best airtight seal, and the strongest spring, you still won't get decent ranges out of the stock barrel, as it doesn't fit the darts tight enough.

You don't have to replace the O-ring. All you need to do is:

1) Replace the barrel with CPVC, PETG, Brass.
2) Rubber bands or bungee cords. I prefer bungee cords. You can pick a pack of 20 mini bungees at Wal-Mart for about five bucks.
3) Spring replacement. I use a Double Shot spring in mine and it gets good range. If you do a spring replacement then you don't need to use rubber bands or a bungee cord.
4) Use Stefans instead of stock darts.
5) Add lubricant if you need to.

I get around 50 feet with ar removed and the peg a strikefire spring added and a 4 inch CPVC barrel,of course its a old nightfinder the green ones, so newer ones will get more,But thats mine and yours sounds about right for just AR removal

Everyone pretty much said it but if you do use thhe suction tip darts, that's the problem. I don't really need a barrel on mine because a double oring and added spring with tight fitting dart works great. Up to 70 feet with streamlines but everyone knows you can't shoot shit with them. I use stefans and cut streamlines and mine gets and average of 50-60 ft. I suggest that you buy some streamlines and cut the tip off but its cheaper to use stefans. Taggers should work well with the stock barrel plus they're accurate.

yea that sounds just about right to me, just having the AR removed. Slap a stronger spring in there and another O-ring and you will see improvements

I got 60-65 with CS style stefans with these mods:
Both AR's removed
Using this spring.
Daul O-Ring (from my worn out NF's)
Gengars mod (When i use stock darts i use 2" cpvc barrels) .

A simple mod is to take apart the front of you LS and take out the spring. The spring from you LS will slide right underneath your NF spring and will get you about 7-10 more feet out of your disapointing NF.

I've found that removing the peg makes the gun lose power over time. Without the peg, the rod smacks against the front of the barrel and weakens the gun over time. Though this shouldn't be occurring so soon. Maybe posting some pictures would help.

How much of the AR did you remove? You should be able to see the plunger head if you completely removed it. what I did with mine was take out the AR, added a tech six spring, and removed the peg. It gets about 45'-55'. With just a basic AR removal you shouldn't expect too much. If you want to get one of the 100' NF's (witch is what I believe you want and the purpose of this). You would need to add two springs and put an uncomfortably long barrel on and you should get 90' for about 10 shots. My advice is put a decent barrel on it and expect 60', 70' with luck and wind on your side. And for future reference don't believe every range claim you hear.

I left the 3 pronged AR in because I broke a previously modded one. Makes the gun less powerful, but shoots stock darts better for some reason. If you removed both, I would slap on a CPVC barrel but since CPVC doesn't fit my darts, I use 9/16 in brass.

Add and ACE #49 spring, use a longer bolt for the plunger head where it attaches to the rod, just add a Home Depot #14 O-ring (It's the same size as the original one, but two in there pushes one up against the diagonal plunger head and makes a better seal), take out the original barrel and the piece attached to the peg, take out the AR's, and drill a hole in the center of the piece with the + on it. Next take some 9/16 brass, put it in the center of the piece you drilled, and put everything back together (just the orange pieces.) Then glue everyhing with hot glue, the brass, and where all the pieces meet to make sure it's airtight. Then put it back together including the front piece that went around the original barrel. This stabilizes the brass. Then put it back together, use stefans, and with a good fit you should be getting ranges upward of 70 ft.

Try adding a strikefire's spring then stretch it to the same length of the nite finders spring and it makes it much much further.

More importantly, just for the record, silentsnipe's info is inaccurate. Kbarker style NFs get ~85 ft. To break 100 ft, you have to cut the gun down and put on a SNAP style plunger tube. I also don't recommend stretching springs either, I think that others would echo this. Normally I wouldn't bother, but if this thread comes up in a search the searcher would otherwise be incorrectly informed.

Go find a decent handyman spring and slap it in there, you won't be dissapointed.

EDIT: oops.
