Alrighty, I just recently acquired a firefly off my friend... for free, Anywho the deal was easy take it and mod it.
8 stefans without reloading not bad an idea so i was going to replace the barrels with non-other than cpvc and add a new plunger system which would increase its range without a doubt.
so i opened it all up it was all going well i tore out that rotary barrel took out the 3 screws and theres 1 left before i can crack that barrel open and it would'nt budge. I have the right screwdriver size but it wont budge, by the time i was done trying to unscrew it the + sign had become a hole.

Maybe someone can help me out here:

A) Should I drill it out?

Disregard the project the firefly is dead.

C) Variable Magic remedy for screws that wont screw off?

Really any help is greatly appreciated Im one screw away from a great mod?

Screw extractor bit

Which unfortunately don't usually come with very long necks so you probably won't be able to use one to extract heavily recessed screws.

Does the device not damage the Hole itself?
I dont have one, Crap.

I guess my best bet is to drill that mother out?

Extractor bits bite into the screw in order to unscrew it. It's like a very steep angle left-handed drill bit.

My grandpa has some and they work good. If you can't get your hands on the extractor bit try a flat head screw driver. I have used a slightly smaller ( or bigger, depending on how big your hole is on the screw top ) and with a little effort the screw should come out.

Just drill it with a normal bit. It is bad for the bit, but they are probabally cheaper than the fancy previously mentioned ones.

Couldn't you use one of those "Grabit" things they sell on the television?

20 dollars gets you about 3-5 bits specially made for removing striped screws.
If you want I will edit this with the phone number and information when i see the commercial again.

That happened on my target tech. I just cut through the gun to the screw with a hack saw, but you might not be able to do that.

For the future, Make sure you have the right size screwdriver head.
If I remember correctly, Sluggy once suggested to me #1 Phillips.
It has never let me down since.

Also if the screw is in there and it seems impossible to get out.
Try pushing down hard against the screwdriver into the grooves of the head.
At the same time turn the screwdriver with pliers.

That method has never let me down either.


A recommendation I am going to make for the situation you are in now.
Try using a flat head screwdriver. Find the bit that fits as tight as possible into that mess you made of the screw head. Then press down hard and use pliers to turn it.

alot of times I would kid kids on my forum who ruined screws with their toy screwdrivers... my best advice is to take the junk screwdriver that caused your problems and superglue it to the screw... extract the screw and throw both in trash.

(one tiny bit of advice though, Mr BadWrench - "alot" is one word. "a lot" is two words. They have meanings so dramatically different as to be never interchangeable)

If you will excuse me, I am dyslexic and am forced to rely on the spell checker almost exclusively... I know how to spell its just the words always end up jumbled up... theres about 10-12 words that similarly befuddle me.

You could try spraying the screw with silicone lube.

That is fucking horrible.

And if you can't get it out, cut around that area. That was my fix to open the unfixable firefly.

Usually, (which is most of the time), when I get a screw stuck I try the above method,
and when I get the screw out I trash it so I don't have to go through that again. Now
if the screw is really in there, (and it's my gun, because I mod my friends' guns
sometimes) I just get REALLY impatient (which is a bad thing) and take a drill or a
pipe cutter and attempt to get the screw out (which I've only resorted to twice......)
and that works, yet I don't think that method will work for what you're trying to do
