This is my first writeup, so bear with me. I got my new vulcan a week ago, but was kind of sad that it came with 2 chains and the extras cost $10. I was looking at how wide the chains were so i cauold put cpvc in them, bu then i saw that you could make a chain with cpvc. All you need to do is take a 2 1/2 inch piece of cpvc and put 2 marks on it at 1/4 inch down and 1 7/8 inches down. then cut 2 peices of 1/2 inch pvc as thin as you can and put them on top of the marks. then to link the shells together, file off a flat area on the top and glu a piece of flat shoelace or cloth into the falt piece. then to finish the shell, cut a 1" piece of 1/2 inch pvc so it lays across the top and gule it in place. Then add a paintjob and your done! i should be able to get pics up tonight, so where would be a good place to host them?

Questions? Comments?

Does your homemade belt get better ranges than the stock belt?

With okay stefans it shot about 40-45 feet, but you cant use stock darts as they flop out... It may be my cpvc....

I have used Flickr with no problems for uploading photos. Plus, you hardly have to register if you already have a yahoo mail account. Anyway, props on making a working belt...

When you took those ranges, was your vulcan stock, or modded?

It's not like that. I put lube on it and its the same. Its just stuck. And when I cock it back it goes farther back then usual. Also I push as hard as I can and it wont go back in. I've tried the methods and they wont work. Also pics are up.

And what kind/weight of stefans? And why do I not believe those ranges?

imageshack is a decent place for uploading. I don't know why more people don't use it.

My vulcan has the main ar taken out. I will have pics up in half an hour. Also, how long would it take to upload a video with dialup? oh, and my stefans are about 1 1/2" long and use 1 bb as a weight.

It's a nice looking belt, but can you resize the pics? It is very big, and sidescrolling is very annoying.

You have one small ass screen if you need to scroll for that....

I like the homemade belt, it looks very promising.

How does it feed compared to the normal one?

Very nice-
I never thought of using a shoelace to connect the links...
I'm working on a homemade rototrak chain and the little bits of plastic I've cut don't work. My other attempt was using a loop of e-tape, but that curves around the shell. Thanks for the idea! Great post.

The size is actually quite big. I have issues on my browser because I have the view port size around 1100 pixels wide, and I have to scroll. Thats larger than average. The average screen size is that pictures exact size, 1024px x 768px. Maybe you have one big ass screen.

On topic: I like the belt, it looks very clean. How well does it go through the vulcan after, say, 10 rounds?

There is one problem with the chain and that is that the shoe lace is too thin and gets twisted easily. i am working on putting a thicker and wider cloth around the shells to hold them better.

Does the 1/2in PVC have to be there for it to function, or is it just there for looks

I'm assuming it's to keep the shell from sliding forward/back while the gun is firing...
