Here is the Idea: you have your terrorists that can use automatics and weapons like mavericks and DTB's. They get to take 1/6 of your team as hostages. The hostages can be guarded but the gaurds are one hit kills. Hostages can attemp escape and go back to their team's spawn point, but if they get hit while trying to run away they turn into a terrorists. Counter-terrorists Can only use single-shot weapons and a pistol of their choice. They Can use longshots and recons. The goal for them is to get their teamates back and elimenate anyone who stands in their way. They also have special weapons like nerf footballs that drop FBR buds all over or each guy also has the option to use a pool noodle for whacking people. The terrorists try to fend off the Counter-terrorists for 10 minutes. Each player except for terorrist gaurds has 3 live and the game uses a 3/15 rule. Players that are totally out must put down their weapons and clear.Friendly fire DOES count so make your shots accurate.

This was quickly thought up so any changes that need to be made can be posted below.

Please don't be an ass.

It looks very possible, but the rules are very complicated and it would cause a lot of arguing and confusion. Especially with the group I play with, you can't really do much more than respawn without people getting confused or breaking rules and saying, "I didn't know". So I think it would be a lot of fun, but please simplify the rules.

I don't see much complication in the rules, even a third grader could understand this provided that he knows how to read. You get shot you lose a number on the 3/15 and must clear the area. To make it simpler to the lesser minded you have nine lives. To know more about the 3/15 rule read Badger's "Nerf War Ettiguette" thread. It's pinned for a reason.

My main problem with this game is it comes too close to a mil-sim. Nerf isn't supposed to be a realistic representation of war, and or terrorism/counter-terrorism. That's why most games that are the most fun for nerf are the least realistic i.e. Deathmatch, CTF, and Gunsliger's Heaven.

Oh, and if you're going to have another bitch hissyfit, regarding constructive criticism from members on the forum you posted this idea asking for help, like the one re-posted below:

Fuck-off, and read these articles written by Pineapple and VACC that are about the subject I just wrote about.

I see what you mean there carpenter. the names are just to give it more jazz to my mil sim loving friends. We don't dress up in crazy outfits. We just like to have the game a bit more intresting. The friendly fire was so that the "terorrists" disn't just Spray the area down with foam, they would need to get closer. The timelimit was to keep the counter-Terrorists from sitting back and pick off the oppsing force, Causing those gay standoffs that VACC was talking about. And some of the other stuff was just thrown in their to add a different level of strategy to a deathmatch type game. I guess you could play without hostages but then you would have The Counter-terrorists with more range just standing back and shooting the enemies like fish in a barrel. So really each rule is just given a more combat like name and also helps balance out the unique style of play required to win. DOUBLE EDIT: stolen From Falcon's Non-Standard Game Types thread, But fact is, if you make your games more challenging by modifying them even slightly, or by infusing them with established sports (ie. basketball, whatever...) I don't give a crap what you do, but just TRY to make your games more interesting than just team elimination and CTF, with the stereotypical pistol round at the end of the day when everybody's tired.

I would seriously like to applaud your for that excellent come-back. I'm serious.

I completely agree with Falcon's quote. Nerf wars are meant to be fun, and they become that way by keeping things fresh by way of different game types. You can see that I agree with it from my latest topic, posted yesterday, Swashbuckler's Heaven. I sincerely hope that you didn't post that because you were trying to say that I host wars as boring as the kind detailed in Falcon's quote, because I don't. I make it a point to try out new and exciting game types each time I host a war, in fact, I'll be doing just that this Saturday.

I really am glad that you did this to make your particular nerf wars more fun for you and your friends, it just isn't my cup of tea. I would also like to apologize for yelling at you earlier. I wasn't pissed off about your first post, it was the second one where you made it seem as if Swords didn't know what he was talking about. I really hate it when someone makes it appear as if they are better than everyone else. Swords is your peer, don't baby-talk him.

Still, I don't want any bad blood between us, so I hope you accept my apology.

You don't need to apologize but any help on forming new rules is greatly appreciated.

What kind of field layout is needed for this to work? Are the T's in some kind of easily defensible position?
If it is just an open field with hostages sitting on the floor, then no matter what the time limit, it will just become one side taking long-range potshots at the other.

How many T's are there for every CT? It seems that if the T's don't out number the CT's by at least double, then it is too easy for the CT's to take them down, since an equal number of each means that the CT's have 2 disposable lives to play with.

Also, this hostage idea, what keeps a T from just gunning down the hostages from the get go? This quickly adds numbers to your side, which is always an advantage.

Not trying to kil your idea, but there are some holes in it that need to be fixed or explained better.

Khulshrank, From an experienced nerfer like you I see the flaws. The T/CT ratio is about 2-1 so for every 2 T's there is 1 CT.
you made an excellent point about the hostages though. I suppose that it would be implied that execution of hostages when they are simply doing nothing is not allowed and you will be swiftly kicked in the hindquarters for doing it. This could be played essentially anywhere that isn't just a flat concrete place because that just kills all the fun. Any more suggestions?

Have you actually tried out this gametype?
If not, go try it, then come back and tell us about how it went, and what you learned. To quote Vacc:
"[why don't] we try these game types out before posting them here? Otherwise this degrades into the same thing as a modification concept thread. If I have to read through 3 paragraphs of ridiculous bullshit only to find that it's not even something you've tried before I'm gonna give up on this thread imediately."

I think everyone who reads or contributes to this site needs to take a big stap back and reallize we're discussing nerf guns. The fate of absolutely NOTHING important depends on what you, me, or anyone else does

I have played this and it did have some kinks which were worked out. But I know there are still some that we haven't run into.
