Anyway, I don't think that you even are required (by law) to have an orange-tipped barrel on a Nerf blaster. I mean, paintball markers don't need them, right?

Airsoft guns do need them because most airsoft guns look very realistic other than the orange-tipped barrel.

That said, if you cosmetically modify a nerf blaster (or make a homemade) to look realistic and then paint it black, I would highly suggest adding some sort of orange tape to the barrel.

To those of you saying that "I nerf and no cops show up," that's probably becuse:
a.) no cops have a line of sight on you
b.) the civilians around you know what you're doing and/or are not concerned about it enough to call the cops (i.e., they are reasonable people)

If you should be confronted by a pollice officer, immediately stop what you are doing, put down your blaster and talk to him nicely. Explain what you are doing if you are given the chance, and show him some darts/stefans. There are reports of wars that were interuped (but not ended) when an officer showed up, saw what was really going on, and left.

To emphasize:
Even if your realistic-looking nerf blasters, paintball markers, and (especially) airsoft guns are properly marked, an officer can't know if you are actually holding a "fake" weapon or a disguised firearm. Plus, who knows how good his/her eyesight is?

So be sure to not aim your toy gun at an officer. Like I said, put it on the ground and take a few steps back. Explain what you are doing if given the chance, be polite, and do exactly as you're told exactly when you're told to do it.

next time, just tell me right off the bat that it's a joke, my dad sometimes won't let me use Modded guns. and when someone is talking about what the law is, I don't tend to take it as a joke. Next time, just make it a bit more obvious.

for legal purposes and so if you get hurn by a modded gun/ dart ( really hurt/ death)

If your really worried then use Google to look up the laws of your state, but I doubt you will find anything saying that you cannot modify Nerf Blasters.

So long as you keep the orange tip at the end of the barrel, you are legal.

Without the orange tip, the weapon (though not likely), can be considered a weapon. Legally, the orange tip is a marking that the gun is harmless. This is why airsoft guns have the orange tip, whereas true guns and BB rifles do not. They, aforementioned, have the potential to be lethal, and therefore do not have the orange tip.

A robber can paint the tip of his say AK-47 oarnge and pull it out, then a cop would have a hard time considoring to draw his gun or not. Judging from your odd spelling of the word "orange", Im going to assume you have never shot a gun. Also, this idea of painting the tip of the AK-47 orange is stupid. No matter what, no fake gun can replicate a gunshot, much less the 7.62 round. No cop would think twice about popping a criminal with a gun that looks real enough, orange tip or not, if the cop thinks his life is in danger, he's gonna fire.

Wanna prevent cops? Paint your guns.

When I say paint, I mean paint. Not black, I mean a neon color, lots of color. Dont make them mistakable for real guns. Its that simple. Look at Bags. Im pretty sure he has never been stopped by police with his outrageously flaming paintjobs (its ok, I respect you, and also paint my guns neon colors and am working on a "fag-finder")

Keep an orange tip on your gun and don't shoot death darts.

Cops can then only really charge you on littering and trespassing.

Even then they won't REALLY care that much.
