"Do I look like a guy who has a plan?"

I'm going to go see it again because as a cynic I find myself suspicious of a movie which presents itself to be FUCKING AWESOME.

I just got back from seeing it.

Best fucking movie EVER.

"Wanna' see a magic trick? I'm going to make this pencil... disappear!"

"Look at what I can do with a couple bullets and a little bit of gasoline..."

I thought everyone played their part excellently, especially The Joker. The scene with him hanging out the window of the cop car like a dog with Gordon narrating in the back was excellent. I want to see it again just so I can pay more attention to the details. It was just constant action happening. I loved it. It was also a TRULY scary movie. I got paranoid driving home while going through intersections, thinking that a car would come and smash into us, or when I got a drink from the fountain after the show.

"Why so serious Son?"

Twas an excellent Film...

Heath Ledger was amazing as the Joker, and I don't think anyone will ever do a better joker... unless you count Mark Hamill as the voice of the animated Joker... but that's beyond the point.

By the way... did anyone else think of this movie as the "film that wouldn't end" every time you think it was over They threw another half hour more movie at us...

The pencil disappearing trick was pretty fucking sweet too haha

When I went and saw it there was actually Applause for said "disappearing trick"

Oh... And I was totally Psyched by the fact that there was a Trailer for "THE WATCHMEN"...

Can't Fucking wait for that one.

Okay I loved the movie but their were a few parts that pissed me off.

Piss off 1: Although Christian Bale played an excellent Bruce Wayne he played a terrible batman. His voice was all snarly and shit. Not in the cool way. He sounded like a cross between a 13 year old in a garage metal band and the cookie monster.

Piss off 2: When the joker cut the guys face open on the pool table and the guy fell over dead. What the fuck! You cut a guys cheek open he will be pissed but he doesnt die.

Heath ledger played an excellent Joker.

I just saw it yesterday. I thought over all it was 4/5 stars. (Judged by a teenage boy)
I loved all the things that you can quote out of it. My personal favorite quote has to be quote "Why so serious son" end quote
I thought batman never used guns though. In THE DARK KNIGHT he had multiple instances of using guns.

Over all it is a must see.

HEATH LEDGER was simply amazing. People said he wouldn't replace Jack Nicholson, well they were wrong. Batman sounded like he needed a throat lozenge. My favourite character was Alfred.

Fuck. Yes. I just discovered watchmen, it's probably one of the best books I've ever read. One thing I'm worried about is how well it'll translate to a movie. Some parts would work, but the book as a whole is kind of... complex for the silver screen. We'll see.

As far as batman goes, I saw it midnight thursday, and again on friday night.

Agreed. I mentioned it to my friends and they told me to shut up. I still think the voice thing is really dumb, and I was really confused about the face-cut guy. I thought maybe he passed out in shock, or Joker cut his throat instead.

Alice came to the fork in the road.
"Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

With intense pain of that nature it's not unreasonable to assume that the guy just passed out.

As far as Bale's "scary voice" is concerned, I'll agree that it plays a little strange in the films (it bothered me in Begins but not so much in Dark Knight), but in the hyper-realistic (from a comic book movie perspective) world that Nolan has created it makes perfect sense. Bruce Wayne is a famous personality who's appeared on television more than a few times. His voice would be recognizable. The most efficient way to disguize his voice so that no one would recognize it would be to talk with a bit of a gruff. I take it much more as a means of maintaining anonymity than of scaring anyone. Would you prefer he affect a southern drawl?

The Joker seriously outweighed Batman in the movie. There was something about all of his actions. Still an amazing movie, definitely in my top 3.

Vacc, that's a good point. Keep that southern drawn thing to yourself though, I heard there is going to be more "Effeminate Movies".

Jackster:

Batman never used a gun to KILL someone. The cannons on the Batmobile/Batpod were for clearing obstacles. Batman won't kill anyone, and he won't use a gun on anyone.

Or what you might be referring to are some of his accessories. He uses the Grappling Hook very creatively, especially when he is fighting the SWAT teams in the building during the boat scene. Also he uses his 'Time Explosive Sticky Bomb Launcher Thing' but once again, only to remove an obstacle or create a diversion.

This is perfect, though, in my opinion. Batman and Joker, traditionally, share a lot of the same demons. The difference is that Batman represses those demons and channels them into his work, whereas Joke wears them on his sleeve, makeing him inherrantly more interesting to watch. They are both insane. Batman represents controlled and channeled insanity, whereas joker is the embodiment of the chaotic madness (which one would need to become the batman) that lies beneath the surface. They are, pun intended, two sides of the same coin, which is why two-face adds the perfect middleman for this film on top of being a powerful character in his own right.

It just goes to prove that all it takes is one really bad day.

I also loved the Joker, and thought Heath Ledger did a fantastic job as the iconic arch-villain. Too bad he won't be reprising that role in the future!

The gruff voice didn't bother me - I just assumed what VACC said to be true - he had to hide his voice somehow. Really, his only other option would be a voice-changer like they put in various toys, but that would be even more ridiculous.

One of my favorite scenes (aside from the pencil trick) actually didn't involve Batman OR Joker. I'm not 100% sure this quote is completely accurate, but its what WikiQuote has:

"Let me see if I get this straight. You are accusing your client, who is one of the most wealthy and powerful men in the world, of being a rogue vigilante who runs around at night beating mobsters to a bloody pulp with his bare hands…and your intention is to try to blackmail this person? [pauses] Good luck."

I am going to have to totally agree with VACC on this one. Very well put. Also, the gruff voice thing. He has to disguise himself. I mean....he has a gruff voice. Superman just takes off his glasses. I would rather hear a gruff voice disguise than be wondering how superman is unrecognizable just because of removing his glasses.

That was by far my favorite aspect of the film. They captured the essence of the killing joke without rehashing the plot. But instead of trying to madden Jim Gordon, he tried to vilify Dent and a whole ferry-load of people. And he was halfway successful. I also thought they did a good job with the vigilante/hero public image of Batman. By the end of the movie, you totally can't envy being Bruce Wayne, he's got a tough job ahead of him and he isn't going to get any credit for it from anyone.

Y'know, for some reason I didn't even connect the ferry incident with the comic, but you're entirely correct. clearly I have to see the film a few more times.

In keeping with the Killing Joke, I also appreciated the fact that Joker never really could give a straight explanation of his scars (which were emblematic of his origin) despite being so eager to tell the story.

For those unfamiliar with that comic, "The Killing Joke" was more or less a one shot comic that consolidated and retold what has become the deffinitive origin story for the Joker, through a series of flashbacks, as the joker attempts to prove that anyone can go bat-shit (again, pun intended) fucking insane given one very traumatic day. The catch is that it is the joker himself telling the story, and he openly admits that he's not sure what is the truth and what he's more or less making up.

Did anyone else notice that whenever the Joker told someone how he got his scars, it was a different story? I think it was going to be an ongoing thing, but all but two got cut out because the movie was already like 3 hours long.

I'm going to see this tomorrow night. I can't wait. From what I've heard from my friends who have seen it, is'nt it like so much darker, and more action packed than you think when you walk into the theatre before it starts? I can' wait. This seems like it's going to be the best superhero movie of all time.

The black guy dying like that pissed me off too Forsaken.
That and the fact the Maggie Gyllenhaal was chosen to play Rachel.
I mean, come on! I was actually GLAD they killed her. She is just so unattractive...*shudders*
[/End Rant]
Heath Ledger did an amazing job, Christian Bale should play Batman for the rest of his natural life, I didn't like the position Lucius Fox took about the sonar thing, but still, its Morgan Freeman. And Michael Caine was Effeminate as usual. Aaron Eckhart wasn't bad, but Two-Face should have been kept in the movies.
Definitely worth waiting 3 hours at the Midnight release.

1) What's wrong with the CEO of a major corporation knowing a thing or two about ethics? Just because most don't give a crap, doesn't mean that the guy that Bruce Wayne would hire for the job wouldn't. He believed that the system provided unethical levels of surveillance on the citizens of Gotham - a breech of their rights to privacy. You could basically see and hear anything within range of a cell phone's signal - which was basically the entirety of the city. That would include bathrooms, showers, locker rooms, bedrooms, private meeting rooms, etc.

The whole bit was a natural extension of the film's themes of corruption and corrupting influences. Fox refused to allow himself access to something that held the potential for such ethical abuses - thus providing his own moral buffer against corruption. (Though we've seen that he's easily capable of letting things "escape his notice" if they are not too far over the line - after all, he supplies Batman with all his "wonderful toys"!)

2) Can we be absolutely certain that Two-Face is out of the picture? I think not! (Though so far in the two-movie series, there have not been any unrealistic "resurrections" or moments of "the reports of my death were a bit of an exaggeration" moments.) We could see him resurface at some point, but I don't really know yet whether I would want him to or not.

3) I fully agree that Ledger, Caine and Bale all shined brightly in this film!

Also, At first when I heard Bale's voice, I was pissed because it was loud and annoying, but then I realized it was worth it, and actually cool.
