I'm thinking about creating a Marvelous Salvo in an attempt to turn two shitty guns into a good one, and putting them in a smaller shell.

My Big Salvo has a tendency to completely lose pressure in the top blast chamber as I pump it. It's like it slowly expells the air and pushes out the dart as I pump it. (my hornet has the same problem...)

My SMDTG just sucks. Even after I brassed it I can't get any better than 15-20' ranges.

So here's my question: If I turn these two guns into a Marvelous Salvo (Omitting the Blast Chamber that keeps malfunctioning) will it solve the problem?

I ask because I have very limited knowledge of the inner-workings of blast chamber guns and I don't know whether the problem is because of that specific chamber or if it is because of something else.

Yes, this should fix your problem.

The problem with your leaking blast chamber is [i]most likely[i] the blast chamber itself, though there is a small chance it could be the valve in the Big Salvo trigger (to test that, just switch a good barrel with the bad barrel and if the good barrel is now bad and the bad barrel good, the problem is the valve in the trigger). If it is a bad valve, I'm not sure of a really good fix, though you could try pressing down the valve with a toothpick or something to see if it's stuck.

If it's the blast chamber, the best fix is to first attach to a different pump and quickly pump air into it. Eventually it should stop leaking. Fire it (by disconnecting it from the pump or somehow creating a leak in the tube running to it) and then do it again. See if it doesn't leak even if you pump it at normal speed. If this didn't work, spray a small amount of silicon spray down the barrel and rapidly pump and fire a few times. If this doesn't fix it...it's probably not going to get fixed. Another option, if you have it available, is to spray compressed air down the barrel to try to clean it out.

But, the best fix of all is probably to make a marvelous salvo. They are more reliable than the Big Salvo and are easier to pump (assuming it's connected to a good pump). And for me, the SMDTG trigger is much easier to fire off just one round than the Big Salvo (or TripleStrike or SplitFire for that matter).

Oddly enough, I just tried out my Big Salvo, and the problem seems to have dissapeared.. (but that doesn't mean it won't come back and fuck me in the middle of a war should I choose to use it.)

Thanks for the advice!

Whether it's broken or not, I'm still going to make a Marvelous Salvo. I definitely want the gun to be more reliable, and I'm sick of firing off two or three shots at a time when I'm going for one.

I'm going to Home Depot Saturday to pick up some connectors for this. What size do you recommend?

If you are using the ones that are just quick ones and not barbed get 1/4 diameter.

Get barbed connectors for 3/16" ID tubing or instant tube fittings (more expensive) for 1/4" OD tubing.

But, I really do reccommend just using McMaster.com (see the other recent Marvelous Salvo thread for details on what to get).

Good luck to you.

Good luck to you!

Thanks!

When I'm done with this, it'll probably be the first Marvelous Salvo that won't be integrated into something. I plan on turning it into a pistol. (make my own shell for it)

It's already been done. Sam and I talked about this (via PM) several months ago. The idea was to make a more accessible and perhaps even better performing to the SplitFire, which we both dual wield in NERF wars.

So, no, it wouldn't be the first, I have a couple variants, but none with a homemade shell (I have one in a NF and one in a Maverick), but it doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. It is a very effective weapon.

Wow, I didn't think this would be small enough to put in an NF shell... That gives me a few more options...

but it doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. It is a very effective weapon.

I don't really care about being the first, I just haven't seen any that weren't integrated. I'm definitely still gonna do this. Thanks for all the help!

Are those pistols posted anywhere on the Haven?

No these aren't posted anywhere on the haven. And I didnt integrate "into" a NF shell, but "onto" a NF shell.
