Hi All!
So tomorrow's the big day, I'll be hosting a small Nerf War for my hometown in Ft. Worth Texas.
Everything's organized, backup location's set, and the food will be plentiful.
However, I was wondering about the different types of "games" that can be played CTF? Deathmatch?
I've never done this before with a group so if you guys could, please post any advice/ info on different games that can be played and how you go about playing them rule-wise.
Gracias' from Cowboy land,
-Commander Cody

Try the Nerf Wiki. It has a lot of great info. There are several types of games, with a brief explanation towards the bottom of the page.
Will do! Almost forgot about the wiki.

Team Deathmatch. Usually 2 teams, if you have alot of people 3 teams. Use colored landscaping tape (I think it is) to tie around peoples arms to mark which team they are on. And use the 3/15 rule. 3 hits and your out, and 15 seconds after each hit before you are back in. No spawning behind/near opposing team members.
Other then that make sure everyone has some sort of eye protection (sun glasses or what not. PB masks aren't needed) And that everyone has a gun and enough ammo. And go nerf! Seriously, the name of the game is fun via shooting people with foam darts. Don't forget that.

You could try playing a form of manhunt with nerf guns. One or two people start as "it" and everyone else runs away. The "it" people try to tag other people, who then join them and go tag more people. Then the last person to be tagged wins. So I guess it would be like Humans vs. Zombies, only games would be shorter because the tagging people have guns. I always like playing manhunt at school...
I don't care what anyone else says, Atom Blasters are fucking awesome.

Damn, if you had waited one week I could've been there. Oh well...So tomorrow's the big day, I'll be hosting a small Nerf War for my hometown in Ft. Worth Texas.
Recommendations for rules:
* (this was someone else's idea) If you're afraid to shoot yourself at point-blank with it, don't use it
* Nerf guns that look like real guns should not be used for obvious reasons
* Try not to Nerf around popular and or crowded places (a bit of a no-brainer, though), there should never be an opportunity for a non-nerfer to be hit by stray fire
* Make sure to have craploads of ammo avaliable, if possible (otherwise, most of your time will be spent searching for fired darts)
* "Death" or "S.n.!.p.e.r" darts (stefans made with air restrictor parts or thumbtacks instead of hot glue or felt tips) can cause bodily harm (as in, more than bruises and welts); those who choose to use them should be banned
* Eye protection should be mandantory; in the heat of (foamy) battle, people accidentally shoot people in the head far more often than you think
* Have fun (another no-brainer)
Of course, these are recommendations, you don't have to use them.
For gametypes, however, anything goes. I suggest CTF (a mainstay in any psuedo-combat simulation), Humans vs. Zombies (one person is the Alpha Zombie; anyone a zombie tags becomes a zombie, and looses the ability to use their weapons. Zombies win if all humans are zombified, humans win if all zombies are eliminated), and VIP (two teams, one person is the VIP; team "A" has to protect the VIP for "x" ammount of time, team "B" has to either eliminate the VIP, or take him hostage)
Anything with an objective can be used as a gametype. Therefore, be creative!
Ending rant... Now.
i just used a ball gun in a war yesterday. Every time i would pop out i would shout, very loudly

Since it is your first war, stick to the basics.
I imagine that you will have a decent amount of new comers, so let people borrow guns.
Also, this is more of an in game thing. Always put accuracy over everything else.
I hate missing because I didn't really aim.

The 'Zombie' should be a lot of fun. NUVO meets have a lot of melee-using players so practically everyone's got a lightsabre or chainsaw or something to use as a zombie. Here's my rule draft, I'm planning to use it in the July 12th war for NUVO.
Zombie Outbreak
- Zombies cannot use guns, only melee weapons or their hands.
- Humans can use all weapons.
- 1 player starts out as a zombie while all the other players start as human.
- The zombie gets twenty seconds to hide before the game starts.
- Zombies have infinite lives, and take twenty seconds to 'respawn'.
- Any human who is hit by a zombie becomes a zombie, and respawns as one after twenty seconds.
- The last human alive starts the next ZO round as the first Zombie.
I'm debating whether or not to let Zombies use melee weapons. Technically they shouldn't... I'm also considering multiple hits for zombies but that just seems unfair when there's no way to keep zombies from sprinting at you.
But this game is one of the most fun for those just starting a Nerf War and want to do something else besides CTF/DM/TDM.
We play Freeze Tag at NUVO too.
Freeze Tag
- Two teams, starting on opposite ends of the playing area.
- One hit, infinite lives, but the only way to respawn is if a teammate revives you by touching you with their hand. You respawn immediately.
- First team to freeze all members of the opposing team wins.
- You must not stay within five feet of a frozen opponent. Camping is fine, just no meat-shielding.
I hope you find the time to play something besides Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag, and play these at your own Nerf War.
