So I've slacked off on my mods since Nerf guns were banned at my work. But I decided to go ahead and say @#% you to the rules and started modding again. So far I have not been spoken to.

What We've taken here is your standard fare 10 shot DTG and an A2K.
Tools used here were screwdrivers
hot glue
plastics epoxy
putty epoxy
a dremmel came in somewhere
various cutting devices
Stepping drill bit
9/16th drill bit
thick wall petg -OMC
5/8"th thick wall petg - clearpack
1/2" thin wall -clearpack
sprinkler drip system barb fittings
1 1/2" pvc coupler
electric tape
wireloom

Altho I didn't use any specific write up to follow general modding concepts that can be learned here from other guns were applied.

For starters Mods that are on the DTG are as follows

AR removal
straw mod to turret
turret inlets widened (used a tapping bit for this)
Added 4lb spring to stock
sealed leak point at head of plunger tube with 3 wraps of teflon tape
sili lubed plunger
barrel replacement -Petg
I only have a couple pics of the mods on the DTG but heres the sealed barrels
Posted Image

You can see the inlets where they have been opened up. They were all drilled out so that a larger straw could be used.
Posted Image

The A2K has been modded as follows
minimized and singled
pump plugged
brass barrel nested in 1/2" thin wall petg w/5/8"th petg coupler
goo gauge coupler removed

Tho hard to see there is half a barb fitting in the air tank that allows it to be hooked direct to the pump w/o the goo gauge.
Posted Image

Here I have some simple pictures of brass and petg coupler.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Now that we have these two very decent guns all modded up it was time to see how to seal this union.

So I decided to scrap the whole of the A2K's shell except for the front of the pump so I could have something to hold it into place with this I realized that I would need something to also hold the air tank in to place thats where the 1 1/2" PVC coupler came in. I had to use the dremel to shave out a space for the lip of the tank and cut it in half so that it could separate with the two halves of the shell.
Posted Image

Then I had to fit it to the gun for placement. So I found where it was to go and used some hot glue to hold it in place while the plastics epoxy provided the permenant seal and structural strength.
Posted Image

And of course cuts on the DTB had to be made to make room.
Posted Image

Now I was going to make some housing for the rear of the pump but decided that I would just pait the pump itself and wrap the air hose in wire loom
Also needed at this point was a trigger for the A2K so I took some spare acrylic tube and fashioned up a trigger.
(sadly this trigger broke during W@M so I will have to remake one that is stronger.

Heres a internal of the gun while still open.
Posted Image

Now with the awesomeness that was contained in the gun it needed that special Blacksunshine touch. So it got my customary signature paint scheme.

The DTG gets about 40-50 feet or so.
The A2K gets 70+
(these are guesstimate ranges. However my guesses have been fairly accurate)

Nice write-up.
When I saw that gun at the war I thought to myself that you should have done a write-up on it.

I guess you have some heavy duty industrial strength toilet paper holders. Do they advise you to wear eye protection when changing rolls?

All I can think to say is....Wow. Incredible! I'm really lovin' the PJ, too.

One thing I didn't get: you said you added a 4Lb spring to the stock. I don't see / get the idea of it. Probly just me being stupid .

EDIT: I was thinking in the real stock-- I think you ment you put it over the stock spring.

That's looking mighty sweet, but doesn't that hose get in the way of your hand?

Very nice, very clean.

But it needs a new name- it sounds like a diddler.

Yes sorry I ment to the stock spring. its not a huge increase but a little extra helps.

Not really. I have the pump slightly angled so that the hose is off to the side a little so it gives me good clearance to both triggers.

If used properly it is just that.

Very nice. However, if I may, I'd like to suggest a new name: Diculous, from Mark Leung's College Saga

Nice work. Consider it added!

I love the creativity of using wireloom over external tubes to protect them. Brilliant!!!
I will use that idea if I ever have to deal with external tubing again.

I love it. You went the extra mile with painting it and all, but I love the fact that it, at its core, is simple as hell. It'd be REALLY easy to make two or three of these in an afternoon to keep handy as loaner guns/backups in the event of primaries breaking, yet it's easily effective enough to be used regularly as a primary.

Now of course, I'm a dirty bastard so in the event that I throw something like this together out of one of my spare DTGs, I'll probably wind up turreting the 2k, but regardless...it's awesome.

Did you get the trigger fixed on that after it broke at the war?
It's absolutely gorgeous though.

And I'm probably going to do just that. I've got 2 DTGs sitting around, I just need to find myself some 2ks.

Nahh. haven't gotten a chance to crack it back open yet. Hopefully I will get time tonight.

I thought about keeping the turret but time constraints kept me from going any further with mods to the gun. I was in a rush to finish this gun and had to finish external mods two days before W@M so I would have time to lay paint. At the same time I was modding 4 other guns so I'd be all ready to go. So I had to simplify some parts of this build.

Also to keep the whole clean look It would have taken quite a bit more effort to build something to hold the turret in place.

Could you provide some more details/photos as to how you PETGed the DTG? It would appear you just jammed the PETG in the orange drum although it would seem to me that would leave a lot of dead space. this is an old thread but i have yet to find a clear write up for PETGing a DTG and it would seem you've had a good bit of success with your method.

Thanks

It's all good. I should have posted those details originally.

If you can get your hands on a 9/16th drillbit you can bore out the insides of the original barrels and fit them. Sears should have one as well as ACE. That drill bit will then become your new best friend cause then you can bore anything you need out to take your petg or brass. Just make sure you get one that fits your drill.

Using the drill will allow you to get your petg all the way down the barrel and get a great fit so long as you seal everything when you're done with some goop or acrylic cement/weldon.

I'm going to start doing the You tube/ebay thing. So in the next couple week I plan on modding at least two more of these things and I will try and post up a video of the process. But its really as straght forward as you can get.

Was it a normal drill bit or a spade bit? I would imagine that a normal bit would work better and sorta guide its way down holes in the orange drum where as a spade bit would get caught and drill crooked.

Thanks

Yeah. Get a normal one. What I use is a spade because 9/16th drill bits are hard as hell to come by and expensive as shit. I still do well enough with it but it does make me have to work a little harder. Nowhere near as much as trying to shave it down with a dremmel tho.
Anyways I reccomend going to Sears because they are the only place I've seen a normal 9/16th. Ace has the one that I have. There is one other place that has one but the shank it uses is too large for a normal sized power drill. The bit is going to run you about 25 bucks. And make sure you have a decent driver. I'd reccomend using a plug in one.

As a side note since we are talking about this creation. It is currently in "rehab". During the last war the A2K airline broke off the stem of the pump. Actually the stem itself broke rendering the 2k useless. So that needs to be repaired. Also since the original build I swapped the original spring for a NF spring. This does not help. infact now the gun shoots like crap. Another issue I have with this gun is the beautifull BS style paintjob tho looks great, It's too damn thick in some places and that keeps the gun from advancing. the trigger does not retract all the way back into place so I will either need to shave a little paint or replace the spring with something much stronger.

Ahh, I need a 9/16th drill bit. I guess you don't have to take the front turret out completely

Hey dude you shouldn't post in topics that are old like that. Especially with something useless. If you need to just pm blacksunshine, he would be happy to answer your questions. I would read this before you do anything else. The moderators on this forum are strict and unforgiving.
