And just a note: I'm not a new modder. I piddled with Nitefinders and Mavericks to start, then moved up to my Recon and Titan, Crossfires, the BBB and I'm waiting on Ace to get more brass in stock so I can finish my Angel Breeched Longshot.
In cutting out the pegs on the Air Restrictors of the red one, I botched up the seals they made with the barrel. I was slightly worried about how it would shoot, but it (to my joy) achieved higher than stock ranges.
Then I set forth to doing the blue one, and was much more careful in removing the pegs. I also remembered I had spare Nitefinder springs from an abandoned Double NF modification. So I put on of those in there, found myself a stronger catch spring. I didn't have the time to do a PVC barrel replacement, and I didn't have enough brass to do all the barrels. I also placed a circumference or two of E-Tape below the O-Ring in this one, and added a few layers of Teflon Tape to the top if it, and coated it in Silicon Grease. I seal was great, not too incredibly tight, but tight enough that it had a good seal that no air leaked through. So I left it at that, and closed it up.
However, my problems arise when I when to test the Blue one's ranges. They all fell below 20'. I looked at this and thought, this isn't right. Then I thought. Possibly, because I am using stock darts, it's too much power for them. So I made a quick batch of Stefans, and the same thing happens, they just pop out of the barrel and flop at about 20'.
So my question is this: "Has anyone else experienced this problem," or, "Does anyone know what might be the trouble?" As, the gun that has the better spring and seal is getting about half the range of the other.

yes the small DTG's can be POS's, their inverted plunger tubes are made with very poorly. I bought 2 sets and one of them the outer plunger tube completely shattered JUST from having the AR removed. So I'd be careful about adding extra spring power to them.
I think you misunderstood me. When I say DTG I refer to the 10 shot one. They aren't inverted plunger style.
But alas, I feel your pain with the Cross/StrikeFires, the smaller pistol ones, correct? Both of mine, the back of the plunger tube has blown off just from removing the ARs and stretching the spring.

It sounds like your seal is in fact too tight, so it's not getting enough air when you cock it. Try removing the etape around the plunger head, that should let it draw more air into the plunger chamber when you pull it back.
If I were you I'd remove the teflon tape on top of the o-ring first, rather than removing the e-tape underneath the o-ring first. Of course, I don't actually add e-tape under my o-rings or replace my o-rings with e-tape any more. I go to the hardware store and find a slightly thicker o-ring. I always do this purely for the sake of durability, as I find that e-tape on plunger heads tends to shred.

Everything is removable. Its highly impracticle and the Recons are held on by the bottom of the LS scope

Why in hell did you post that here?

Ahh yes I did. I get comfused when ppl talk about the dart tag sets since there are technincally 3 diff DTG's.
As for your issue now that I know what gun you're talking about. Id suggest this.
See if you can get a stronger spring on the plunger head. And also try to get some teflon tape and a couple wraps of it between the plunger tube and the moving plunger head. That is a big air leak point for these guns.
Adding a small 4lb spring like from ace or home depot adds a little extra oomph to the gun without stopping it from being cocked.

If by 'on the plunger head' you simply mean adding a new spring, I did so with a NF spring, and I added teflon tape to the plunger head.

I'm sorry I mistyped what I was really meaning. what I ment by plunger "head" is the front of the plunger tube the spring loaded mouth piece that presses up against the turret. there is a poor seal at that spot so a wrapping of Teflon tape helps the seal.

You were able to squeeze a NF spring in there in addition to the stock spring or as a replacement?
