The Storm.

Yes, this gun is also shown on NerfX, but i was finally validated on NerfHaven (which is so much better) so I had to put it on NerfHaven.

I cut up an old water gun, (also called the storm) and made it fire nerf darts. Stefans and streamlined darts work best.

The barrel is made out of an old Elmer's glue stick (shown below).

The darts range from 50' t 60', and i've clocked the darts at over 50mph.

No way.

No fricking way.

I just have to add a barrel. As you can see I swapped out the stock pump with an Sm3k pump, because the stock one was tiny. How many pumps does it need?

I live @ 7200' above sea level so it takes about 40 odd pumps.

That's crazy though that you had the same idea. I'm gonna have to try you're pump idea there.

GMD, fix your grammar. That was painful to read. But on the topic of squirt guns, what do you think the Max D 6000 would do with a nerf dart? The other day I got one of those Artic Blasts, (like the Flash Flood, but you can put ice in it), and I saw the Max D 6000 for about 14$. Squirt guns are so much cheaper than nerf! But cool mod.

It's not like that. I put lube on it and its the same. Its just stuck. And when I cock it back it goes farther back then usual. Also I push as hard as I can and it wont go back in. I've tried the methods and they wont work. Also pics are up.

Wait, wait. How is $14 cheaper than a Nerf gun? The Longshot, yes... but the LS can be pretty badass. Otherwise, you can get two NFs or almost two Mavs for $14. I'd say there's a pretty decent comparison.

Plus, when you buy squirt guns, you still have to do a barrel swap and if you want to use less than 10 pumps a pump swap.

...sorry to hijack the thread. The glue on mine is almost dry; I'll post pumps with an Sm3k pump when it is.

Hilt, you better bring that to SPANO on Saturday. I always like the idea of converting water guns into nerf guns. I bought a water gun at goodwill, with the intention of doing so, but I realized that the gun was from 1989. In fact the first super soaker ever made. So, yeah, I'm not going to mod it.

Water guns make very good bases for homemades. My friend and I converted several SuperSoaker XP 270s into long range nerf rifles. We can get about 230-250 ft flat with heavy stefans. The only disadvantage with converted water guns is that they take some time to prime and fire. Nevertheless, good job.

The darts range from 50' t 60', and i've clocked the darts at over 50mph.

I would love to know how you clocked it. Let's do the math together:

1 Mile = approx 5280 Feet
50 MPH = 264,000 FPH = 4400 FPM = 74 FPS
Average Dart Range = 55 Feet
A.D.R. / FPS = 0.74 seconds

Since nerf blasters, as well as airsoft and paintball guns, have their velocity measured in FPS, not MPH, then your blaster shoots at 74 FPS, according to your MPH claim.

Try using this method of measuring your FPS. It is lot to do, but it is quite accurate.

How to Make your Own Nerf Chrongraph

Just don't convert the results into MPH to make it sound cooler.

You'd also need to put the dart weights. A .5 gram weight may go really fast, but something heavier will have better range, accuracy and stability.

frame by frame and confirmed by a small radar gun. You're point is valid though. I'll be sure to switch in future posts.

I really do wish i could, but i glued it shut. Although I''d be happy to step you through it. When open, just behind the orange squirt head at the fron of the gun, cut with a hacksaw. It'll be right in front of some clear tubing. You'll need to remove the two front orange pieces on the outer shell for the new barrel to fit. Good luck! I hope that this was helpful.

You might want to plug the relief valve for better performance. Scroll down to the bottom of that page to see how.

I have some internals images of this water gun too. Note that you can't remove the water reservoir because it's also the pressure chamber.
