I'll bet you the soldiers who caught him would get at least a silver star. My thoughts? Thread a long hook through his ballsack and hang him from a tree in Baghdad town square. Let people yank the string for a dollar. They inflict massive pain on Saddam, AND they get revenue. How can they lose?

Yea his ass is going to a tribunal and soon. He'll be sentenced and tried by the Iraqis I imagine. Or at least he should be. The war crimes and crimes against humanity probably won't go over well in any court, but the Iraqis I believe, deserve justice. I think that when he gets a terrible sentencing, like life in prison, or death, that'll make a huge statement to all those Arab nations who thought Hussein was an icon.

I can't imagine how the troops feel now, the morale must be thicker than Jello around the border.

I just hope that people don't associate the military's success with Bush being a good president. Oh, and by the way, GunnedDown, Saddam never killed anyone you knew.

I think they'll be interrogating him for a long time. He's way more valuable alive than dead. Eventually they'll give him a trial and who knows what will happen then.

Now all we need is Osama in a box.

I think Saddam's caputre must be handled very carfully as could become a point for greater conflict in the Arab world or a way to consilidate the Iraqi government.

Actually merl, it's more common than you think. I have a large arab population in my school, and at lest 1/2 of them have had a relative that sadaam personally killed. Part of the reason they came here, ya know?

Sadd-ass Hussein finally caught. Wow, never thought I'd see the day. Now all we need is Osama bin Lickingcock. I'm greatful to those soldiers who found him sitting in that 6 ft. x 8 ft. hole outside of that palace.

Merlinski,

You better believe Bush will use this as political capital on the campain trail it would be naive not to. He isn't going to just let this go away, he'll use it to further justify US actions in Iraq and to assert that his policy is and was the correct corse of action. This makes him seem a strong commander and chief of the US military. Some people (conservatives)will see that as a reason to re-elect him, some (liberals) won't.

Me I'm a moderate. I don't always support GWB's domestic policy (Tax cuts to the wealthy) andI don't always agree with how Bush has handled Iraq among the international community. However I do support and acknowledge the need for our troops over there, this capture makes that support worth while. I think Bush is trying to be a good president, whether or not he has been is debatable.

I'm glad Saddam is captured, but I don't think he should be executed. He is worth a lot more alive than he is dead. For anybody that actually read the article, Saddam's capture may lead to Bin Laden's. Besides, in my opinion, being locked up in a concrete room for the rest of your entire life is much worse a punishment than being killed instantly.

Yay, we caught him! Like someone above said, catching him probably will lead to the capture of Bin Laden somehow. I don't think he should be executed, atleast right away. He'll probably give us some information about some stuff.

Found him in the bottom of a hole, full of lice, rats, and most-likely copious amounts of his own feces...

how fitting.

Post number 420...heh heh.

You know, NHQ's unique post count system did not include that, but 69 was taken advantage of. Hmm.

Yeah, that was good news to wake up to. If you wake up to news, anyways. Beats something like "Get yer ass outta bed and ready to go!" or the usual stuff.

I don't always support GWB's domestic policy (Tax cuts to the wealthy)

Yea, this needs to get pointed out...

Just so everyone knows the U.S. of A. has what we call a graduated tax bracket. The more money you make, the more you pay in your income taxes. So... To clear this up. Those wealthy people who the government takes such good care of pay the most taxes. The top 5% of America's wealthy pay 1/3 (one third) of the United States' income taxes. "Tax cuts for the wealthy" is pure and simple bullshit, they pay the most of all of us, so they deserve the most back. It's that simple.

Oh, and Merl, not to be a fuckhead but I have to say something or my head's just gonna explode.

About associating "the military's success with Bush being a good president":

Yea, I mean there's no direct connection. Our military rocks. But if Bush hadn't signed what had to get signed and say what had to get said, Saddam would still be living in the lap of luxury, murdering who he wanted on a whim. We found the motherfucker in a hole, where he should have been since day one. I'm glad to see our boys getting the job done either way.

And about Saddam never killing anyone GD knew:
Who cares? Because he didn't kill GD's mother he can't rejoice because a mad man is in custody? A tyrant has handcuffs on that say "Made in America". Hell yea.

And on a completely different note: Congratulations to the US military. Talk about getting the job done.

Oh shut up you fucking commie.

Oh go take over Poland you fucking fascist.

I know Bush is going to use it, I just hope that it doesn't work. Oh, and about the GunnedDown comment, I thought he was referring to the belief that Saddam had something to do with 9/11. If he was referring to relatives of friends that lived in Iraq, I'm sorry for misinterpreting it.

Evil, I know that this wouldn't have happened were it not for Bush's decision to invade Iraq, but I don't think that this will solve any of the problems that the invasion created.

This rein of "weapons of mass destruction" holding is finally over.

George W. Bush still has a few thousand weapons of mass destruction under his control, and he doesn't seem to be afraid to use military power to strike at foreign countries. He's a real threat, because nobody, including the United Nations, can stop him.

Yeah, no one ever thinks that way. Bush is the world threat, slowly getting rid of people that could overthrow him. Not that I argue with Saddam being captured, I'm very glad. I'd jus like to say I agree with Zero Talent though, because it's a good point... beware Bush. He's got the weapons, and I honestly don't think he's afraid to use them... he might even go on a power trip.

Well, with a few exceptions. Whoever wanted to try to oppose Bush would have to employ the use of a few unconventional weapons. For instance, Gamecube equipped with Super Monkey Ball 2, a Magic Eye book, or perhaps a bag of yummy pretzels?

The difference between the US and the rest of the world is that we wouldn't use them. They aren't a novelty to us, we've used them, they helped ended World War II (DUR!). Nukes are a no-no for us. There is a huge leap that people need to take into account when we compare the United States and countries like North Korea or other hostile nations. We can't use the bomb again (well at least I can't imagine the scenario) because we know what goes along with it and we wouldn't be able to forgive ourselves for what such weapons do. Others, like Kim Jong Il, the Shah of Iran, for example, cannot gaurantee such hesitance when it comes to "the button".

If Iran or North Korea were to use "the bomb" or something similar, it would be viewed as a proof of might and a testament to victory for them. For us, there would be the lingering question of "how could we do that?"

To say Bush is a world threat is a joke. He has yet to apply pressure to anyone innocent regime or establishment.

But hell, if anyone wants to convince me that Hussein or the Taliban were really a great bunch of guys, hit me up with an e-mail at least. Thanks.
