Hey All,

So I was following the mod for brass barrel replacement for the warthog, and everything went smooth up until the testing. The power of the gun is so weak the darts barely have enough force to escape the barrels.

I used a glue gun to seal the barrels and believe everything is nice and airtight...

Any ideas?

Hot glue will not hold. Ever. My friend's Nitefinder had a barrel held on by hot glue and it shot right off.
Get some epoxy or plumbers good and glue it on with that.

I say hot glue does hold i used it to put a peice of pvc into the ring at the front of nightfinders plunger then put the pvc and the ring in. i also have a BBB spring in there. it has held up for 2 months.

Yah I'm going to have to go with Retiate on this one. in my experience hot glue sucks. Plumbers goop is the way to go. Or if you don't want to wait a day for it to dry you can just use Rhino glue.

Hot glue does hold, but it is not airtight. Tiny holes form in it as it dries. I recommend you splurge and buy some epoxy.

In my expiriences, hot glue has worked on sealing things with CPVC, and PVC, but with metal, (in my cases brass or copper) it does'nt hold AT ALL. It litterally just kind of slips off when it is shot, even just a couple of times. Since you said you were using brass... there's your problem. I would suggest Plumpers Goop, or epoxy.

It's not like that. I put lube on it and its the same. Its just stuck. And when I cock it back it goes farther back then usual. Also I push as hard as I can and it wont go back in. I've tried the methods and they wont work. Also pics are up.

Yeah, I have the Plumber's Goop, I just wanted to see if the regular glue would work, obviously it didn't.
It'll be applied tonight and we'll see if it does the trick.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Well I checked on the barrels this morning, and tested the airflow by covering one end of the barrel and blowing through the other. No air escaped. When I tested the gun the same problem remained. The only other thing I can fathom is the original holes at the back of the barrels are literally 1/10 " in diameter. Maybe there isn't enough force to propel the darts?

I'm not sure what else to do.

Is your plunger head snug against the plunger tube. A bad plunger seal can make any gun useless.

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

Well considering that most nerfers don't have much experience with the warthog, I'll do my best to help.
The thing with adding to the original parts, is that you have to make sure that the barrels aren't hitting the plunger when its shot. If it's not perfectly smooth, then it won't work properly, this is why I just ditched the original parts, and used cpvc, it added friction helps on the range part. also lubing the plunger helps too, you could always try to
add e-tape as well, but I have yet to try it. Also did you make sure the glue didn't cover up the holes? That happened with me, and The top dart would shoot fine, but the bottom would go 5 feet.
Also make sure you don't ram the dart down the barrel, it actually hinders the performance.

Be sure to band the gun. Mine are all very bad without bands, sometimes not shooting both darts even. be careful about the piece that actually pulls the spring back on the gun though. It's broken on one of mine after an hour or two of nerfing. I'd goop behind it where it won't interfere with the normal operation of the gun.

Generally, the Warthog won't be very good with stefans. My Mod gave me amazing results with tagger darts which is what I wanted. The Warthog's barrels are very long inside of the gun (3 or so inches) which means you will need longer/thicker darts.

Using small 1 1/2'' stefans the range of each dart was 30' on a good day while taggers easily achieved twice that. Using overly thick stefans ramrodded down the barrel the results were only a few feet less than stock darts. You may also want to consider adding some weight to your stefans.

On a side note, a fun thing to do is use a bunch of small thick stefans in each barrel to keep as a last-resort "shotgun" pistol.
