I'm trying to figure out how to mod the rapid fire rifle to a crossbow-like configuration.

I think he is talking about trying to get it load and shoot like a cross bow. With the cocking handle in the back, with a modified plunger. I'm not sure though. And it probably won't work because the RFR is not set up to be moded. The plunger is up near the end of the barrel, and it is lever action. You can do a quasi barrel replacement and transform it into a bolt action. You can also mod the shells with CPVC or copper. But the results aren't that great. It would probably be better to buy a longshot, since the mod possibilities are plentiful.

Or just stop buying shitty guns and get a solid one like an AT2k or Maxshot.

It might be possible to do what you're suggesting, but RFR's are kinda crappy and because of their configuration it would be impractical to make one like a crossbow. You'd be better off finding a better gun to transform into a "crossbow." Like a Big Blast, perhaps. If you added a stock and some other modifications, it would look similar to a crossbow. Maybe...

Clarify: I don't mean like an old crossbow ™ thing, I mean to take out the spring catch, cut through in the front, thread a 16-inch bow, and add out-type springs to the inside of the bow, and add a strong catch to the back, and make it so that drawing the bow back also draws the plunger back, then being released by a pull of the trigger. This is all in theory. I'm just trying to make something out of this rather hateful thing. Hope that helps.

I'm sorry, but as you probably know the RFR is, in a word, useless. I see what you're trying to do here, you want it to be like a Big Bad Bow except the useless cosmetic string actually cocks the gun. You also said that you wanted to make something usefulout of the RFR, and that's probably not going to happen. However, for the Crossbow thing, I'm thinking you could use the Star Wars Rebel Blaster or Wookie Bowcaster, seeing as both are ~ rifle-sized blasters with simple plunger systems.

I concur. Something with a simpler plunger would be much better for the application of your idea then the RFR (or should the acronym now mean Really Fucking Retarded (RFR)). The star wars blasters should be OK for what you want to do since they both have NF like plungers and aren't complicated. Good Luck with your idea!
