Sorry that I had to start a new topic to ask a simple question, but I don't know what else to do. I have a lack of resources when it comes to buying barrel material, so I bought some PVC. Usually I use Crayola barrels but I'm out. So now I have 1/2 PVC pipe that is slightly too tight as we all should know from experience. I don't use megas so I'm sticking with this size. But I need to some how bore it out. I was thinking a 9/16 drill bit down the pipe. However I have a feeling that it'll score the insides really bad. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there a better way to bore out the pipe?

I have a dremel head that works really well for 1/2 inch CPVC, but Im sure about your dilemma.

1/2" CPVC is the one that's too tight. 1/2" PVC is for megas. The only reason to bore out that size of PVC is to nest something in it. As far as CPVC goes, you could try using a round file or a Dremel with a rotary cutting or sanding bit. However, neither option is going to give you a uniform inner surface, which may be a problem.

Hmm, I don't have a Dremel bit long enough to do the whole barrel. And I thought mega's used 3/4 inch PVC. 1/2 inch is way too small. It's even to small for micros.

1/2 pvc = mega
1/2 cpvc = micro

If its too tight get a 1/2 inch drill bit and drill through the pipe and it will be perfect. I do it to all my cpvc.

Stick a micro dart in your pipe and tell me how it fits. If the foam (not the tip, just the body) is a tight fit, then you have CPVC. If the foam has a lot of room on either side, and you can fit the head of the dart into the pipe as well, then you have PVC. Tell us which one it is and then you'll make enough sense for us to help you.

The difference is, the measurement of CPVC is external diameter and the measurement of sch40 PVC is internal diameter. Unless your dealing with SDR.15 or sch20 (thinwall).
Use this for future reference,
1/2in. CPVC- 1/2in. external diameter
1/2in. PVC sch40- 1/2in internal diameter

That is incorrect. The inner diameter of cpvc is close to 1/2 inch and the inner diameter of pvc is closer to 5/8. Neither pvc nor cpvc have the measurements you described for them.

Either way I still have CPVC that my darts don't fit in. And if I were to drill it out, I'd need a 9/16 drill bit because the 1/2 is too small.
