Hey,
I have a Sharpshooter 1 and want to mod it to:
1) Get better range
2) Use micro stefans instead of the original (weird size) darts.
I plan to do this by:
1) Stretching the spring
a. The stock spring is less than four inches long. How much can I stretch it?
2) Installing a barrel of some sort. Which should I use?
a. PVC
b. Brass
c. Copper
d. Also, how long should I make it?
I want the final result to be that I can slip a Stefan into the barrel, have it slide down a little ways, but not have to fit onto the guide post. I will appreciate insight offered on any portion of my questions. (I apologize if you don’t like my outline style questions. It was the easiest way for me to organize my thoughts and get them into somewhat intelligent questions!)
Thanks

The easiest way to attach a barrel would be to wrap the current barrel/peg(hearby referred to as 'peg') in some sort of tape. Electrical tape would be easiest(thin, black tape). Wrap it thick enough so you can push a new barrel of your choice over the tape. Make sure you have enough tape to make it tight, you don't want it falling off! The perk of this mod is that it is entirely reversible, and only requires you to cut your barrel to size.
I'm not sure the size of the peg, so if you want a micro dart shooter, this may not work.

If the world is so unfair, why isn't it ever unfair in my favor?

Yeah, that is a good idea. It would be nice to not have to hot glue it on permanently. I don't want the dart to even have to fit on the peg since it is such a weird size. I hope that I can just place the dart in the barrel, but not have to slide it onto the peg.
Also, what material should I use for the barrel?

I'm old fashioned, so I would suggest PVC.
3/4" PVC for megas.
1/2" CPVC for micros.
I think those are the correct sizes. It's been quite some time since I last bought PVC.

What is CPVC, and how is it different than PVC?

It's usually a different color, and it's sized or rated differently, I don't remember.
On a side note, this forum is DEAD. Maybe it's because other people have lives

79 posts so far today in 19 different threads.
I don't know what your criteria for 'dead' is but that hardly seems dead to me. It's not the 200 posts/day that NO had at one point but I usually think that's good, all things considered.

I stopped posting on NO because there was too much crap and bullshit to read through. I'm glad their isnt as much of that here. Sometimes I still wonder if all of the old NO community even know about NH, I sure didn't till it was brought to my attention...
