I recently got my DTB and modded it by removing the ARS, adding a stretched NF spring, etape and lube on plunger head. Now when I shoot it, I barely hit 40ft. I don;t know why, as my seal seems ok, and there has been no barrel replacement. I have an NF glued to the bottom, but I cannot see how that affects performance.
ANy advice on how to improve my ranges would be greatly appreciated.

It's just screaming to be rearloading...

I seen a movie about that once.

If you completely removed the AR's then I think that is your problem. I left the bored out AR's in mine and it gets great ranges for a DTB.

Without replacing the barrels you're not going to get much more than 40-45'. That's about what ranges mine got with the stock barrels and no restrictors, if that. DTBs suck, end of story.

I didn't completely remove them, I just bored them out. I guess Nefmonkey is right, they just suck. Decent for indoors though.

You can band it on the inside.

I tried it didn't do much. I have bands in there, I am getting about 41-42 flat now, at least it can shoot across my living and rec room, which are 20ft each, and hit the wall on the other side with a smack.
I guess it's fine and great for indoor wars.

Yeah that's all we use them for but again they're good for close range.

Thats sorta odd because I get at least 45 with stock barrels and ars taken out... (corner of parents bedroom to corner of my room and it hits the wall... my parents room is at least 30ft, hall is around 4 feet from their door to mine, my room from the door to corner is around 10-15 feet...) On my cpvc turreted one it gets mid 50s Id say.

I just tossed in a CF spring and it seems to really increase the power. I can't range test yet because it is raining outside and 12:20 am.

I would use CPVC but canadian CPVC is insanely tight, and is useless for barrels, unless bored out, which Im not going to do for 10 barrels. Brass is too expensive, so Im stuck with stock barrels.

Rebarrel it. Theres no other way. I put Teflon tape under the o-ring, lubed it up, put in a 40lb spring (when fully compressed) and its only hitting 30' on a good day. If you have a lot of air, but a loose barrel, or one too loose for the circumstances, then your ranges will suck. End of story.

unless bored out, which Im not going to do for 10 barrels.

Just get a .5 inch drill bit and a power drill and you're good to go... Its really easy. I do it to all of my cpvc barrels.

I might try that drill bit thing. I may already have one im not sure. I am thinking about rebarreling it with petg when I next order some from OMC. That should improve ranges significantly.
