Krylon fusion works wonders, although on smooth plastics you will need to put down several light coats as apposed to two or three medium thickness coats.
Vinyl dye is better for moving parts (the Recon) because it doesn't just adhere to the plastic, it actually goes into it and, just as the title states, it dyes the plastic.
All of my paint jobs were done with Krylon Fusion, and the detailing done with enamel paints, which can be found at any hobby store for about $4 a bottle (tiny little bottles).
Try to avoid using regular paint in large amounts under moving parts, because it will chip of and maybe gunk up the mechanism.
