I am getting ready for a war and wanted to show up with some cool weapons.

I need soem help though, I know for one that I must take apart my guns to paint them, but what type of paint should I use ? I am going to replace the standard Purple and Yellow color scheme with a gray and and green design. As for the Recon I am going to have Gray, green, and white. I need some help on what to buy and what precautions to take.

Vinyl paints work best.

I know people who sear by krylon fusion.

I used car paint to paint my LS, it worked very well. I don't have it anymore or less I would post a pic, but trust me, car paint works well, but put down some primer too.

Krylon fusion works wonders, although on smooth plastics you will need to put down several light coats as apposed to two or three medium thickness coats.

Vinyl dye is better for moving parts (the Recon) because it doesn't just adhere to the plastic, it actually goes into it and, just as the title states, it dyes the plastic.

All of my paint jobs were done with Krylon Fusion, and the detailing done with enamel paints, which can be found at any hobby store for about $4 a bottle (tiny little bottles).

Try to avoid using regular paint in large amounts under moving parts, because it will chip of and maybe gunk up the mechanism.

In my experience, Krylon is very flaky. Even on a sanded surface, in a light coat.

There is this stuff called "Makes Paint Stick" by Bulldog Brand. Its a caned primer that will make any paint stick to any surface, it works like a dream! one can will paint like 50 guns, so I recommend getting it. You could paint water with this stuff!

Vinyl Dye! Krylon Fusion can't hold a candle to the spray-on Duplicolor stuff you can find in automotive stores. I've used both, and won't ever go back to Krylon Fusion. The dye doesn't look like a paint job, it looks like factory made colored plastic.

Vinyl Dye kicks toe. It'll never wear, chip, or fade, it doesn't muck up moving parts, and it's never failed me. Just a light sanding beforehand is all you need, and spray that noise on. Don't go Krylon, I find it doesn't work near as well.

Ok, so I know the horse has been beat, if not to death, well near to death, on this, but I'll just say that Krylon Fusion is the best...I used it for my Halo3 Sn1per rifle LS paint/mod (pics coming, in the next week), and I'm supremely happy with it...it's all I'll use, if I ever do something like that again.
