Okay, so I was at my Gameclub at my college and I was working on my Recon, and when I went to cock my Recon, it didn't cock unless I slammed the bolt. I fiddled with it a little more before dismantling it and looking at the connections in it, and I made an alarming discovery, the spot where the plunger tube connected to the barrel had cracked in multiple places.

I fortuneately had some Amazing Goop on hand and glued it back together. I know this seems like a stupid question, but short of doing an Angel Breech or some other drastic thing like that, will the Goop hold, or should I reinforce it in some way?

PS. Sorry for posting all the help topics, but things haven't been going my way recently when it's coming to my nerfing.

The Goop should hold up. If not then the only option I see is to do an Angel breech.

I would bore out the cavity and fit a thin brass tube over the broken parts and bond with J.B. Welds ( I know I talk a lot about it, that stuff rules!)and that would definatly hold. The goop might be just fine, but i never use any kind of epoxies. Just hot glue and J.B.

I dowt a recon would have enough plunger volume for an angel breach.

Don't want to shove balls in tight spaces. Trust me, bad idea.

For sale: Vintage WWII French rifles. Dropped once, never fired.

Well, the topic is a couple of weeks old, but I have something to add.

Okay, so I was messing with my Recon today to get ready for Spano this Saturday. Anyway, so I was doing a little work on it and I noticed that the epoxy had let go.

I need some advice. What do you guys think I should do to fix it? Amazing Goop didn't work, but I'm willing to try another kind of glue/epoxy.

The Recon doesn't have enough room for an Angel breech. You're going to have to duplicate the existing bolt & reciever assembly with brass, which takes more work.

I say this because if you already used epoxy and it didn't hold, then regluing it with more epoxy will be only a short-term fix.

It might have to do with the KIND of epoxy I used. The stuff I used said it wasn't recommended for plastics. I would have used Super Glue, but I didn't have any.

Ok then, I'm going to have to concur with Banshee. Go buy some JB Kwik (the fast-setting version of JB Weld). You can find it at your local hardware store under adhesives, or in the automotive isle of Walmart or whatever.

However, without a picture I don't know exactly what you're trying to adhere together (I don't own a Recon) and on that note, if you're trying to glue plastic to plastic, J.B. Welds may not be the bets idea unless you filled the entire gun casing with it to hold everything in place because once it dries it turns to a material similar to steel and may not hold to great to plastic.

This is the section I'm trying to fix.

As long as you prep the plastic properly, it will hold. I use it for everything. Make sure the area is nice and clean, sand it with really coarse sand paper and add some divots with a small dremel bit. Doing those things has worked well for me so far. s

Well, after several Effeminate fails and a powerful solvent, I broke down and bought some superglue. Sadly, it only turned out to be another Effeminate fail because not even the superglue is holding....

I think that the best solution has already been posted:

You're going to have to duplicate the existing bolt & reciever assembly with brass

I don't know if brass is necessarily the best material - PVC or CPVC are alot easier to work with - but creating a new assembly seems to be the route to take at this point. Or, buy a new Recon.

I've hand-made several replacement parts for my guns out of PVC endcaps using a dremel. You should be able to figure something out.

1. If you have you receipt, and it's not heavily modded on the outside, return/exchange it.

2. Buy a new one and take the parts out that you need and either return it or keep it for spare parts.
