Actually they are worried about how stefans are wieghted (my dad thinks they will poke someone's eye out)
Longshot Wielder actually makes a good point. When talking to parents, mention the emphasis on safety in nerfing. Eye protection is mandatory at organized wars for just that reason.
The worst you'll end up with after a war is a bruise or welt.

Alright, I have edited in all of those suggestions. Sorry I haven't updated it lately, I have been on a hiking trip in the AT. There have been some really good suggestions, and I hope they keep coming.
