Will they work instead of stacking brass barrels?

Well, I passed some of these in the Ace Hardware near me

and I was wondering, before I buy a few, if the two fittings on the very right could be substituted for stacking brass barrels? It would be way less expensive, less brass to buy.

Let's not be too negative. If you find the right sizes, yes, it will work. The problem is, nobody has found the right size for what you're suggesting. At any rate, these things are what, 3 dollars a dozen? Buy some and experiment. There are far too many question threads out there. Most of the time people don't know the answer to them for sure anyway, and even the experienced modders are guessing about things half the time. Especially with problem threads. That's how it works, except people should be guessing on their own, instead of posting tons of three post question threads on all the boards.

so, back on topic, sure, it may work, give it a shot and find out, you may end up saving everybody some money.

Alice came to the fork in the road.
"Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

It was the first picture I found. The couplers in the store were brass. I thought that if someone tried these couplers before me, they could post their knowledge, and maybe save me a few bucks. I'll just try them on my own, and then post my findings.

I've seen the brass ones too. They're only for specific size though, I'm pretty sure in 1/8" increments. Yeah; if you can find the right size, go wild. The non threaded ones will definitely need some sealant though. I'd suggest bringing brass of your barrel size with you though just to make things easier.
