So, back in the day I was a Pokemon card addict. I have long since been less than phased by them. But, I still have them. I have many that are (or were) rare and of some significant value, all of them being quite old. I have literaly hundreds. But, I'm looking to get rid of them and make a little money. So, does anyone know a good place to sell them, where I wont get ripped off? Are they even worth anything anymore? Thanks

EDIT: Holy Crap! I've got a black star japanese card!! (Black Star means rare)

You could try ebay, but the easiest would be your local comic book/card store.

lol I remember my first pokemon cards. It was actually at a birthday party where everyone who came got a booster pack. I promptly traded my 1st Edition Electrode for a stupid Onyx. >: ( I forget where our cards are now, we might've just dumped them on some random kid.

The old cards are worthless. Quite literally. On ebay, most of the holographic cards sell for $2-$4 each at most, with the exclusion of charizard, blastoise and venusaur. They often sell for a little more than the rest, but no more than like $10-$15 for charizard, which is the most valuable. The only cards that sell for a good amount are ex cards, and if you only have old cards, then you don't have any exes. If you have hundreds, you would get $50 or so for them if you sell them all in one lot. Sometimes people get a little crazy and bid slightly higher than normal, but don't expect to sell those cards for more $400 or $500. If you have a good number of holographic cards, start the auction off at $0.01 and then hope for $40, and you shouldn't be let down.

P.S.- Many people argue with me about this information. Please don't do it. I love the nostalgia of pokemon, and I still do a bit of collecting and playing. It may not be useful to most people, but I know what I am talking about. :P

Holy Crap! I have a goldmine then! I have four holo Blastoise's! In the second grade, I won about a thousand- 1500 of cards just like that, and they are sitting in an old shoebox I have in my closet. I must have about $800 worth of cards then... You know, I may be 13, but I still play the pokemon video games. The ones for like GameBoy and DS. I acually hav the new Mystery Dungeon Game. :P I don't know, they're just fun to me. I have this card of a pikachu that knows surf, and another pikachu card that knows fly..but I barely know anything about pokemon cards.

Off-topic slightly, but the Pokemon video games have a good formula, which they don't really mess with much.. but me and my brother used to love playing Pokemon Red and Blue on our Gameboy Colors and Pockets. :P

You have $30-$40 worth at most. I would guess closer to $30.

I said that his cards were worth less than $50, so how does that make you shoebox full worth $800? Ex cards are the rarest and most valuable, and I saw a card collection of 1500 and it included 100 exes(exes sell separately for a minimum of $5 each, but are usually $10-$20), and that auction sold for $300. I can guarantee that your cards aren't worth $800 or anywhere near it.

I am thouroughly tempted to ban everyone in this thread simply for displaying a distinct familiarity with the subject matter. On the other hand, I am hesitant to judge one ridiculous hobby from within the bastion of another. Please, just don't start anymore pokemon topics.

Thanks,
VACC
