I was just wondering, has anyone thought of takeing the internals of a Magstrike, and makeing a gun with it?
I had an idea a while ago, if someone took something like Boltsnipers FAR/SCAR and instead of haveing his internals, have a magstrikes internals. A desighn like this wouldn't use shells but be more like a LS. After one dart is fired a second would be pushed up infront of the release valve. Hey, someone might even come up with a restrictore that can be switched between single, burst and full auto fire. Would this work? If so any other ideas? If not why?

Are you questioning if it is possible to put a magstrike in a FAR? I guess it might be, but what would the point be? I could just leave my magstrike innards in my magstrike. Also, what do you mean by shells? The gun shell or the magazine?

The difficulty on that is very high. Why don't you go try it and show us your results?

I suppose it's possible, but it's completely pointless unless you just want it to look cool. There would be countless engineering obstacles to overcome, and overall just would not be worth it. It seems like a lot of people post idea threads about things that would be hideously complicated and in the end just be impractical.

I don't care what anyone else says, Atom Blasters are fucking awesome.

Don't worry, I'm already working on something similar. I'm not sure if it's GOING to work, but I'm still trying. Well, I need to assemble shit and buy some CB chains.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. A good nerf gun is like a good woman. It shouldn't require extra lubrication.

It would work, but here's the main issue. As of now, the FAR/SCAR primes in one motion. To accomplish what you're looking for, using the magstrike internals as a power source, you'd still have to make one motion to open and close the bolt, chambering the dart. If you wanted to use the Magstrike clip as well, you might as well just use a Magstrike, as there wouldn't be much of a point.

Are these the threads CS was talking about?

I don't think so, as this one is feasible, just somewhat useless, if he's suggesting one of the methods I proposed. It's not impossibly hard, and is definitely do-able, just not easy. I do think it's within the capabilities of most people though, as the main part of the mod is just making a shell for the internals.

This is another theory thread. Just a functional dream with no specifics as to how to logically accomplish the end goal.

This particular loose concept has been suggested many times in the past year and there are too many technical issues for it to be possible.

1. The stroke of the self-regulating piston in the magstrike is only one inch. That's not enough travel to actuate anything.
2. It retracts too quickly for it to actuate a breech and fire a dart.
3. It cycles too quickly for darts to feed through a breech reliably. You would have to control its speed with a flow regulator. The resulting reliable cycle rate wouldn't be terribly useful and couldn't really be considered "automatic" in terms of firing rate.

Just use it as is. You really can't compete with the given configuration without starting from scratch.
Something I'm having to work on slowly in the ARR project. But that will be semi-auto and I've had to do a great deal of thinking, planning, and reevaluating in order to come up with something that I'm confident answers most of the potential functional issues. All that remains is for me to have better health and more free time.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

That's what he was implying? Alright, my bad. I didn't quite catch that he wanted the piston to move the bolt. That changes things considerably. I had assumed it was just an internals transplant for looks.

Unless you want to play around with the magstrike internals to the level of re-making the portion with the spring in it, this will be a very difficult thing to do.

My bad, I definitely misread what he was getting at.

No, sorry to all that missread my post, im not getting at a breach system. this would be something like the Tommy 20 modd, where the clip pushes the darts infront of the plunger. The clip would be feeding the darts infront of the release valve, and it would be fired. Also has anyone thought of a way that someone could restrict the amount of shots fired. I was thinking of something on the valve that can be moved the set the modes.

Here is my question.

Why?

If you have a magstrike, why don't you just use that? Why waste the time, and possibly money to put it in a new shell and lower the rate of fire? I see no point in this...

I think the main point is so that one can have a semi-auto without having the skills and equipment of CS.
