I finshed modding my Nite - Finder with a 4in. long steel barrel but the the problem is when I shoot my stefans they go about 20 feet.I was wondering why they were getting such a short distance. ( this is with out rubber -bands.)

I removed the AR's and added an extra o-ring to the plunger head.

How tight is the barrel? Did you lube the plunger? How fast does the plunger go (is it noticeably slow)? What darts?

1. The stefans fit snug in the barrel but not too loose that they fall but not so tight that I have to jam 'em down.
2. No..
3. No it not slow, but it's faster with the bands.
4. Stefans

I'd vote for a leak between the plunger/barrel. Alternatively, the small cap that goes into the plunger might have become a tad bit loose, allowing air to escape. I'd suggest checking both those areas, and come back if you still have problems.

I checked, It's not loose, I epoxied it on and wrapped some e-tape around it.

Is the barrel to long or are my stefans not heavy enough?

Thing is, even with stock darts, I was getting better ranges than that with a basic NF mod. Try this; if you added that second o-ring, your seal should be really good. Hold your finger in front of the barrel when it's loaded (no dart) and let it fire. If your seal is good, the plunger should move alot more slowly than if there was no obstruction in front of the barrel.

Your dart-barrel seal seems to be alright judging by what you've said, so I really think it's a leak somewhere.

Also, what weights are you using in your stefans?

Try taking off that second o-ring. I know it works for alot of other people, but I find that whenever I try and increase the seal on the plunger of guns, it decreases range.

ompa : I make my stefans either with a .20 g bb and a dome of hot glue or a .12 g bb and a dome of hot glue.

StephenColbert: I tried taking off the second o-ring, it really didn't help.

xNFx 37 : What spring would you suggest then?

Edit: I found a leak in the plunger tube O.o what should I do , should I cover it with epoxy then some e-tape?

What kind of epoxy are you using? Also, I highly recommend plumber's goop for sealing cracks, crevices, and leaks of all kinds, especially when dealing with plunger tube-barrel assembly sealing. Just allow it adequate time to cure.

When speaking about a swallow, always make sure you know whether it is an African or European swallow. It is very important.

Everyone has trouble at some time or another. He's asking for help, and hasn't done anything wrong. He may be new, but he certainly isn't a n00b. A n00b is the very elitist of stupid new people. <_<

For a quick fix, try hot glue. I haven't had a whole lot of experience with plumber's goop, but from experience I can recommend epoxy putty. However, judging by the positive response I've seen for plumber's goop, I could probably recommend that as well. But worst comes to worst, hot glue will get the job done.

And notice how most of the older vets on the forums tend to never call anyone a n00b? Yeah, take note of that. We all started out somewhere, belittling someone who is newer to the hobby doesn't really accomplish much of anything. That kind of terminology is best suited for the little whiny brats on several online FPS games that I can think of.

Remember, if you're having problems and have searched already, there is nothing wrong with asking for help (assuming it's nerf related). Hell, I PM CaptainSlug for materials help since I'm just starting to use McMaster and now I use all the same sizes as he does, and he already has experience with what fits and what doesn't.

Squilt, after you seal up that hole, you should be able to see a reasonable increase in range, especially if you have at least a quasi-tight dart/barrel fit.
