[Green-Buckshot]

Hey every body, just got this> in the mail. It is a promotional gun from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy film. It shoots 1/2 inch diameter, 1.57 inch circumference (rounded) suction cup darts. It is plunger-powered and gets ranges comparable to the NiteFinder EX-3 (stock). It is insanely bulbous, the front sphere-thing has a 4-3/4 inch diameter. It is rough the size of a baby's head. It's a fun gun though, any ideas on what to do with it?

No digital camera . It broked. I are sad. Anyway, like I said, it's a plunger powered gun, so the internals are probably similar to an NF.

Well, Marvin himself would tell you that no good will come of this gun, whether you leave it alone or attempt to modify it!


I say open 'er up and see what it's got going on. I'm guessing there is a lot of empty space inside. Maybe you could make some kind of massive, dart-holding compartment in all that space?

Or, if you are really crazy, integrate a half-dozen Secret Strike Pocket Blasters inside, at various angles, hook them all up to one pump and one trigger (that would take some fun engineering), and make this into the ultimate scatter gun!

I actually had the idea of cutting off the whole front-end and making a custom stomp landmine that fires darts, but I like it too much. It already holds 4 darts in a recession in front of the handle, plus a small speaker. I think you can find a picture by googling "Marvins gun" on image search.

Well, after a basic AR removal of course, you should make an uber compartment in the front with a door on the side or the bottom to hold darts. You could open it up and have and endless supply of ammo spill out, hooray!

Also, what brand makes/made these, and where did you get one?

I want one its so different and cool with lots of integration room. You could fit 2 big blasts a rf20 and a magstrike in one.

Well, Green-Buckshot you got there first. I actually just ordered on of these off Amazon Saturday. i wasn't really planning anything ridiculous to do to it, just some internal stuff. I just wanted a sweet Marvin gun. I say you just hot glue some brass in it and coat the whole thing in E tape like everyone else.

I think I'm just gonna do a basic AR removal/ barrel addition mod, along with disabling the sound and vibration. The lights I keep. I'll post a write up soon. You can still get these on amazon or ebay. They are made by NECA.

That is a funky looking gun you got there.

If there is as much space as you think there is try an integration with a small gun. You could also do a barrel replacement. There is also a chance that you drill 1/2'' holes all around it and keep darts in them, you could hold a hell of alot of darts then.

If it is spring powered you could see if a NF spring would fit or another type of spring.

If it is air pwoered you could plug the pump.

I think it looks pretty stupid. It looks like you are firing it out of marvin's head. My advice would be to do some serious dremeling and minimization, or go for the SSPB idea.

If he did the SSPB idea, I don't think you could use it as a sidearm. I don't really think it could be a reasonable sidearm now, because it's so bulky.

Titan/air tech pump and lots of hornet and smdtg blast chambers in there.

Think of the crazy madness of 8-12 shots of 60-100 feet semi-automatic shots in there.

Look I know this is a modding forum and all. but dude. you have a PROMOTIONAL gun. and you are talking about hacking the thing to shit to make it into a peice of useless plastic. The value of a low production promotional item such as this is going to remain pretty high. Since there is a solid fan base of HHGTTG I'm sure in a few years you could get some decent coin for it. You hack away at it just to find out its basically a NF and you will have destroyed any value that it might hold. Just go buy a NF if you wannna hack the shit out of something. Don't listen to these kids that are telling you to rip it apart.

If he's all about the moolah, that is great advice. If he doesn't care much about money, and he'd rather have a very unique gun to call his own, he's much better off following our idea.

And since these are readily available on Amazon right now, quite a while after the movie came out, I don't know how much of a "limited run" they were. But I'd say if you're interested in investing in one or two, now would be the time.

Ahh the way he posted it I assumed it was a promotional item that was pretty rare. I searched ebay and didn't turn up any so just went with that. If they are readily available on the cheap then yeah hack away. I guess I should have looked to amazon.

You could also follow the amazon link and purchase one yourself. If you can't afford one then ask mommy. or buy a NF.

Incorrect. There are two Used & New guns being sold, but more than two in stock by the actual company selling the toys.
