Now once a week (Just so I can keep it going)!

DON'T POST UNTIL IT'S DONE. THERE WILL BE A FINISHED PRODUCT PICTURE.

The Big Blast.

Posted Image

Unscrew everything, and then cut the orange piece at the front at the seem (do the same on the top). If you'll be doing the minimization as shown in this write-up you won't have to worry about how it looks after cutting.

Posted Image

Open it up.

Posted Image

Take out the internals and take a look at the barrel.

Posted Image

Cut the barrel off at the very bottom of the white piece (the one which goes over the black barrel) with a cutting disk.

Posted Image

Then sand the remains of it down.

Posted Image

Now grab a 1/2" PVC and CPVC coupler. If you have ones which resemble mine (from Home Depot), then it should work. Take the CPVC and shove the end without the little tab into the PVC coupler. It'll be tight, but it should stay. I've found that stepping on the CPVC coupler while it's in the PVC one smashes it in nicely. Don't push it in too far however, as it would make it extremely hard to put it/remove a CPVC barrel. Shave down the end of the CPVC coupler.

Posted Image

Now glue (Goop/Epoxy) the CPVC-coupler-end onto the firing chamber.

Posted Image

If you'd like to minimize it to make it easier to load/remove barrels, cut here (if not, don't). You don't have to keep the grip- you could just keep going along the wall, but I have big hands and like the extra surface area (sorry for the crappy MSPaint picture).

Posted Image

Also shave down this wall to allow the new coupler to fit (or just rip it apart with some pliers).

Posted Image

Now you have to shave down the front wall to allow room for the coupler. Start shaving the wall down, and then place the internals in to see if they fit. Continue like this until it fits, and if you were careful and patient enough, it should be seamless. Do the same for the other side of the shell.

Posted Image

Now take out the pump and look at the head.

Posted Image

And plug that hole up with hot glue.

Posted Image

Finished internals (with e-tape over the coupler).

Posted Image

I put hot glue in these places to stop the whole assembly from moving around while pumping/removing barrels.

You’ve been telling me I need to start painting, I think it’s quite sexy:

Ranges are Big Blast ranges. For those who really need to know it will get atleast 100’ flat. I’ve heard rumors of 140’ and lies of 400, but I personally can’t vouch for either and probably won’t take the time to actually measure (rolling out 2 100’ tape measures is a pain). All I can tell you is it gets all you’ll need if it’s allowed. These things are definitely great primaries.

Since I’m planning to make write-ups frequently, I’d like to ask you what you all think. How do you think my write-ups could be improved? Different types of guns, or more extensive and ‘insane’ write-ups (may take longer)? Any suggestions are welcome.

Other than that, Questions? Comments?

Dude, don't sweat it. Your write-ups are fine, great even. I do have some suggestions for guns you can mod, and they're all in my sales thread :P . Just messing. Good work, OfAll.

True... But there have been plenty of big blast PVC coupler write-ups, what makes slug's special is the hex coupler he used and the way he attached it.

Thank you nonetheless.

Green, Thank you. I will check out your sales thread though... :P.

Just mod what you've got the way you want it. Posting writeups is nice but not nearly as important as having your guns how you want them.

Nice job. I usually don't like the "snub-nose" Big Blasts but yours looks pretty decent. The paintjob's good too. I'd probably make the trigger a different color to break up the blue but it's not going to be noticeable with your finger over it anyway.

And I tell everyone this, but reinforce the trigger. Especially since you plugged the pump. You could make a new trigger or just find a way to make the stock one stronger but either way, the stock one is shit. I've had two of them snap on me during wars and it's really annoying.

Good stuff.

I like your advice. Since the people who have replied like the write-ups anyways, I'll probably stick to what I want. As for the trigger, I came to the same conclusion after painting, I should've gone all black, but I'm not going to take the time to open it up again- as you said my finger will be over it.

As for the trigger, it is pretty bad. My friend broke two of his last weekend, so I'm going to figure out a way to reinforce these things. Do you know where it usually breaks (he didn't open it up)?

Thanks,

I like how you sawed it down, leaving all of the front grip intact. It looks nice, and the paintjob is pretty sweet too. Nice job, I really have to get one of these.

The writer-ups are great, so keep them coming. I like what you did with this, the paintjob does look good by the way. Good work.

Great job as usual Ofall. I did something similar, though I glued on a PVC coupler, and then nested a CPVC coupler, and then a long barrel. Worked like charm. I got similar ranges to you.

Good job. The fact that you are pumping out one write up a week it is hard to really ask for more.

But since you asked on ways to improve:

More detailed paint job.

Videos are always cool. (Try and keep personal voices as little as possible.)

Try a unique modification. (Try and think out of the box on a certain gun)

Like I said you are pumping out one a week and it is impossible for me to be 100% satisfied with a write up/modification in that time frame.

ALSO: I wouldn't consider my 2 years of modding Nerf guns a waste of time or life. Be careful, such talk around here is considered heresy.

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

Compared to a lot of the mods I've seen over the years, yours are generally either at or above average, so you have nothing to worry about. I do agree with Forsaken though; now that you have a lot of experience, you should try some harder stuff, perhaps some wacky mods, like the semi-auto-2k or some of angel's crazy mods. Some of them don't work, but it's always fun to try, and a lot of the time you can harness the ideas of the community to your end.

I like it. Nice mod. If your trigger ever breaks ( depending on where it breaks ) you can plumbers goop a piece of plexi glass. Thats what I did and I have had no trouble since. I can take a picture if you want.

I would recommend Reinforcing the trigger. If you dont and you pump it more then 15 times even though the tank can hold 35 the trigger starts to break. Mine broke. So now i have a bb with no trigger.

For anyone who has a broken big blast trigger or wants to remake their trigger, I have found a way to attach an angle iron using hot glue and cable ties. Write up coming soon.

I covered my trigger in putty epoxy. That was before my friend sat on it anyways. Piece of junk now. Anyway back to the trigger, it works really well. Try that , so your trigger doesn't break.

Apologies for dredging this up, but before I embark on this particular modding adventure I have a few questions.
These mostly go out to anyone with modded Big Blasts.

Is it possible to relocate the pump? As in, detach the pump tube from the pressure chamber and move it somewhere else? In this case I'd be trying to make it a bullpup design. From what I've seen it doesn't look like you can cut up the whole one-piece internal thing, but every mod in the directory involves putting the internals back in the shell they came from, so no one really needed to bother trying it.

and of course, How many pumps with the pump plugged?

Well I would say yes but it would be difficult because the big blast uses no tubing of any sort to connect the pump to the blast chamber. But maybe you could find an endcap the fits over the pump and drill a hole that fits the tubing of your choice tightly then use plumbers goop to completely seal that area then do the same for the blast chamber. I'm sure I'm right but if not tell me.

I do not know the answer to your first question but for the second I would say maybe 15. If you do not reinforce the trigger it will break. I had my trigger break at 10 pumps.

It would be rather hard to relocate the pump, nay impossible. A replacement would be easier, however.

As for maximum pumps, I would stop at 9. It's plenty powerful, and cuts down on the pain factor and likeliness of the trigger breaking.
