Which version? if it is the new version, I would recommend un-gluing the trigger pin spring.
It's the old version.
Humorously enough, I have a couple internal pictures from before I sent the gun to mystefansdontflystraight. You really can't see shit in regards to what he is talking about, but perhaps seeing the internals will kickstart someone else's memory of the same problem.
I nerf like a four year old.

It's just screaming to be rearloading...
I seen a movie about that once.

Wow, I'm impressed you got it back in there. I did this once and it was a pain and came out again easily (if this happens to you, just use some goop (I used silicon glue) and rig something (I used dental floss) to hold the pin open so nothing gets glued that shouldn't be). To reconnect it to the turret I used a small piece of brass tubing.I had the idea of replacing it with a drinking straw wrapped in etape, but im worried that would bust. Any suggestions?
I don't think the drinking straw would bust, but it might not be easy to get it to stay in place either. If you can get it to stay, go for it. As long as you don't do anything permanent, you've got nothing to lose. Of course, rigid tubing of some sort (PETG would work also if you can find it in the right size) is ideal.

EDIT: I finished it today. Will post a write up soon, because doing what I did had a funny side effect: It greatly increased the seal, and therefore the range.

I'm looking forward to this. The SM1500 is my weapon of choice and I always like to see improvements on them. A general part of the modding I do is to hot-glue the tank barrel to the turret stub. This helps the seal a bit as well.
