I have a nice BBB that can reach 100' flat on a good day, (1/2 cpvc barrel, added spring), which isn;t hard to pull at all. I've heard the ranges of an xbow are the same. Is there any operation different between them, besides the feel?

The dimensions of the plungers are different, I think the crossbow is longer, and the BBB is wider. Also, the BBB tends to have a weak catch mechanism and can fire if you shake it too hard (like when you run/jump)

BBBs are more widely available and it's easier to affix a barrel to them.

Yea, simple. One is $20, and the other is $120. On a more serious note, the BBB is less reliable from what I\'ve heard/seen.

The main thing that makes your post wrong, ice, is the fact that an Crossbow's EFFECTIVE range is 100'. You're 3B's ANGLED range is 100'.

Pros of a Crossbow
-easily pull off 100' effective range
-extremely accurate
-comfortable
-most guns can be integrated with it
-fully modified=extremely reliable
-not sure of others

Cons of a Crossbow
-rarity/price
-not sure of others

Pros of a 3B
-unique way to cock it gives creative modders awesome ideas (Carrtoon's and FA24's clips)
-good range
-easily found
-if a good clip system is added, then it can have an excellent RoF to go along with its good range
-easy to make it fire darts (hammer a piece of cpvc inside of the stock barrel)
-not sure of others

Cons of the 3B
-Unique way to cock it makes the gun fairly fragile
-not sure of others

X-Bow Cons
-reinforcement needed (although its not hard)
-Hard to get a coupler to hold on to the plunger tube
- Plunger head, not as efficient as o-ring style plunger heads
BBB Cons
-Not as good for integrations

I mean, the xbow is a legend, but then again, I would like the BBB.

Pros: Easy to mod
Realdily available, so if you mess up, (Not likely), you did'nt waste 120+ $$$$
Unique Cocking mech.
Cons: A bit hard to aim, (at least from my exp.)
Sometimes fires on account of weak catch, but that is fixable with a stronger catch spring
It's not as nice feeling/reliable as the Xbow, but, meh.

But yes, I like the BBB for my purposes. (Hell, I never go to wars, so I really don't give a shit.)

The catch spring isn't really fixable, sine you would have to find something that works with the little orange nubs on the sides of the BBB.

Acually, I fixed that by adding a few springs from the AR's of a Maverick. They are just a bit wider, and I added about three, (one turret of AR's should do 'em both) and I have dropped it cocked accidentally and it did'nt fire. They work pretty well.

I personally hate 3bs. The only thing that I have ever done one to one that was integrate a 3k. That only shot about 67ft average anyway.
I would pick an xbow over it anyday.

I'd like to add some cons:

No, I got my coupler on there ROCK SOLID, and it only took about 15 minutes+drying time. You:
1. Put a bead of 1-minute epoxy on the bottom and press it to the plunger tube.
2. Stick the syringe-like tip into the coupler and fill it until it is flush with the little nub on the plunger tube.
3. Let dry, then spread epoxy around the outside bottom 1/2" of the coupler.
4. Let dry, then cover epoxy in goop.
5. Let everything sit and dry.

Once you've done that, it should be rock solid and after a month+ of heavy use, it still hasn't come off. Just give your Xbow a good paintjob(or in my case, a good-on-one-side, bad-on-the-other one), put foam around the plunger head, reinforce, and add bungees/a new spring/more springs and you have a very nice gun. I would get a Xbow over a BBB any day, assuming I had about $120-150 to spend. BBBs are nice and accurate, and if you have one that goes 100 feet, use it. I like their unique shotgun-style cocking, and some people breech it utilizing rhis mechanism(Angel). But it will never be as fun, beautiful, comfortable, or all around amazing as an Xbow.

In my experience with BBB's they don't get 100' flat, I may be wrong though. Also, people have a reason to feel suspisious about your ranges because of the longshot range test video you made. The gun was slightly angled, and the tape measure wasn't very straight at all.

I don't own a crossbow, but to me it looks much more integration friendly than a BBB.

My friend Kyle, (his username on here is Grenada) he just put a Handyman 9713 spring in his (as a replacement), and he gets around 80-85' flat. And I have never done a spring replacement, but I am pretty sure there are bigger springs out there you could put in a BBB. Ice's ranges might be at about a 10 degree angle or so, but I don't think they are bullshit.

I agree with you that it is suspicious since I never get over 80-90 feet with my BBB... though I have not added any extra springs so I really cant know.

I just brass breached my BBB, with original spring and I can proudly say I get at least 70 feet flat. And thats just duct taped.

My handman spring BBB is hard to cock, fires hard, and is just, too powerful. Having the spring in beat the shit out of the gun, and its shooting very badly now. I reccomend doing CustomSnake's mod (from the directory) and using 6 inches of 9/16, in 17/32 brass, using 19/32" glued in the original barrel.

I think the BBB is better though, its available to almost everyone, costs 20 bucks, and is really easy to mod.
