Cancelled for this year...the explosion was somewhat of a dud. We'll try again next year.

WHAT:
GLANE (Great Lakes Area Nerf Explosion)

WHERE:
Mead Park (Backup site Bukholt Park)
Stevens Point, Wisconsin
(Pictures available here)

WHEN:
Tentative date July 26th

ATTENDING:
Carbon

POSSIBLE:

bpso86 +2
Mr. Nerf
sam
deathwolf +1
Here we go….the first annual GLANE. I’m hoping that we can have nerfers from the multi-state area, for a big Midwest war. Stevens Point is a college town with a good assortment of food and such, nearby.

Eye protection is mandatory.
Allowed blasters: Decided on a case-by-case basis. If the group decides it's too powerful, it's out, so bring backups. Homemades are allowed.

Post if you can make it, and I’ll update this first post.

Put me down as a maybe. If I don't get a research position in Baltimore, I should be in WI; then it is just a matter of convincing my parents to not freak out about me driving 2 hours.

Wow, that's farther up in Wisconsin than I thought... 8 hour drive isn't too bad, so I'll still try to make it. I might bring a couple as well.

Put me down for a maybe; I'm not sure what my schedule will be for that date.

Put me down as maybe. I might be on vacation, or my dad might not feel like going to Wisconsin. Although we would be staying at my grandma's house, and she always has stuff for us to do.

Put me down as a maybe, I want to go, but I would be busy for like 4 weekends in a row, so it might not work out.

Just thought I should bump this topic. I think you could safely put me down as coming for sure. This war or SPANO better make up for having a lack of large wars like, APOC and Armageddon, in the mid-west.

Hells yea... put me in as definite, unless attendance sucks the week beforehand.

Any MNers want to carpool?

No need. My dad will be taking me to my grandma's house which is a little west of Steven's Point. I will probably be going to her house on the Friday or Thursday beforehand too. I hope my dad doesn't leave right away, he just can't believe the a thirty-something man with kids (Carbon) plays with nerf guns.

Indeed. My friends I'm bringing to SPANO were shocked when I told them about you. They started asking me all these questions like: What's his job? What does his family think? Do his kid's like nerf?.

So, I'm guessing that July 26th is now the final date?

Put me as a maybe. I think I can get another guy to come up with me, too. It's a bit of a drive, but doable.

I'm going to go ahead and *bump* this, because it's supposed to be a "Nerf Explosion," but it's in one month and there are only four people on the attending list.

Seriously people. Most of you lads from MN should be able to make it.

I will be going, only if there is more than 4 people. I'm not coming four hours for a minuscule war.

Same here, a drive that far will need more people to warrant myself and a few others' trek out. We went out east earlier, and I'd love to meet you guys as well, I just don't want it to be like 8 of us after a 6-7 hour drive lol.

Right. It's probably not going to happen if the projected turnout is small. I figure wait until after NO SPAM this weekend, and then we can see how many people might actually be able to make it.

I'm wondering if this isn't as good of a multi-state site as we initially thought. For future planning, perhaps we want something closer to Illinois, like in the Milwaukee/Chicago area?

That would most definitely increase my chances of coming, as my sister lives in Chicago. It's closer as well lol.

Driving is not a problem for me. I don't mind driving 4 hours for a large Nerf war.

If it's in Illinois I wouldn't mind hosting it. This way people from Ohio can come easily and there is no excuse for the people from Minnesota to come as well.

I would like to keep the war in Wisconsin. I think that anything that takes more than 3-5 hours for a MNer to get to is too far, unless it was a big deal like on similar scale to Apoc. MNers make up most of the possible attendees, so it is important to keep them in mind. I think we'll be able to recruit some more people at SPANO as said, so don't give up yet.

3-5 hours is too long? I drive 6 hours to every MN event and you guys can't even drive 3 hours.

Sad excuse.

Well, the difference is, that they are the nearest wars to you, I doubt you would go to MN wars as often if more people in your area nerfed. But, I guess 3-5 hours isn't really that far. Don't blame me anyway, I will come to the war if all the whereabouts stay the same and we get more people.
