I'm working on a transplant project, and I'm looking for nerf guns that shoot really far. I'm stuck between either the titan or the big salvo. I've heard of the titan shooting 200+ feet, and the big salvo shooting 180+ feet. Could anyone explain to me how to do this? I'm leaning toward the big salvo for a semi-auto-long-range type of gun.
I like the idea of being able to reach out and touch somebody from 200 feet away. If anyone has any other gun suggestions, I'm open to them too.

Oh also on a side note, does anyone have the physical dimensions for this part here?:

Thanks in advance!

For one thing you could check the mod directory. Also, I have never heard of a titan hitting over 200 ft.( I am most likely wrong though). You could integrate the Big Salvo into the Tian if you want to make the gun that you are talking about.

Edit: I just looked in the mod directory and saw ompa's tian which hits an average of 180' highest was 195'.

I've had it hit very close to 200. However, I don't remember what the wind conditions were at the time; it has been so many years.

But anyways, at that distance, good luck hitting anyone. The darts just wobble around way too much. The darts we use are affected by wind way too much to be accurate that far out, at least in my opinion.

I had forgot about the filter. Ah, I love that filter.

Pump plugged with a 2 foot brass barrel of 9/16" at 22 pumps fired way over 200 feet for me back in the day.
If you are looking for accurate darts use 7/0 fishing weights.

How is he able to say eat shit without the filter getting him?

On an insanely powerful, on an extremely windy day I got close to 300 feet (298 FT) and my friend said they have a air capacity of 2.7 quarts....but he lies a LOT.

Edit: God, I had to edit this 3 fricken times!

I did check the mod directory, average ranges were around 160 ft for all of the mods, but I've heard of 250-foot-skin-breaking-titans and I'm trying to get some documentation or something.

I'd really be interested in just being fast, and accurate at ~100 feet.

I think that was debunked.

Thanks FA! I'll have to check that out.

The national geo gun is by far, the farthest shooting sniper rifle. (Thats right, I said it, even though a moderator will probably edit me.)

I did a forum search and found 1 thread, do you know where I can get more info? like ranges or something?

Nah, I won't edit it. I'll just give you a warning, and leave it there so you can pray VACC doesn't suspend you for trying to get around his filter. Hope he's having a good day. Sadly, that doesn't seem to be very often.

And for reference, I give people 2 warnings, and on the third, I suspend them. Warnings can be revoked after a long enough period of good behavior/posting.

Seriously people, don't try to get around the rules. The filters and rules are there for a reason.

Trevor, I don't think there is a writeup for it yet. Baghead and one other member have one; Bags said he'd put up a writeup eventually. His is designed to shoot those small nerf footballs, but all you'd really need from his mod is how to open it and do the basics like pump plugging and whatnot. You'd just deviate at what kind of barrel you attach.

If nobody puts one up in a while, I'll have mine up in a month. But as of now, school takes precedence, and I don't have the materials to mod mine quite yet.

If the 100' mark is all you're looking for, any basic Titan mod will get you that. The accuracy is really just dependent on how straight your barrel is and how well your darts are made. I've personally found that my converted darts are alot more accurate than my hand-made stefans, but you may have a better system of making darts than I do.

I think your friend is bullshitting you. Gases are typically measured in liters, certainly not quarts.

Let's see... 22.4L of gas = 24 quarts (6 gal) (NOTE: This is at STP. I forgot to mention that.
So 2.7 quarts = x Liters

2.7/24= 0.1125
0.1125*22.4= 2.52

So that means that the gun would have to store a little more than 2.5 liters of air. That's more than a big 2L soda bottle. Yeah, I'm gonna call bullshit on that. Tell your friend that math said, "hi."

The problem of getting the air volume of the tank measured is partly due to not knowing what the actual space taken up by the trigger system is, along with the problem of needing to know if you want it at atmospheric pressure or a specific volume. I think I calculated the volume at one point but I don't know where I put those numbers. I am going to have to get into another one soon to do a integration/barrel mod so I will take my caliper and measure it for you if no one else beats me to it. Just keep in mind that it is not going to be spot on because its the outside of the chamber and the trigger valve taking up space on the inside.

I mod nerf guns so they look good. So leave my scopes, doodads, and trinkets alone I like them. I don't mind the weight and I started out that way on toy guns and its not going to change.

It's definitely possible, I can shoot metal balls that come in those Magnetix sets at 70 feet and make a dent in my fence. All it involves is a fully modified titan and filling up the air pressure release "valve."

I believe that was General Cole. Its probably not very true since we all know how he likes to lie greatly exaggerate things. You might be able to do it though, that is if you expand the airtank into every little bit of unused space in the shell of the Big Blast. Without doing that though, it is safe to say the most you'll get out of a Big Blast is 150 feet flat.

Why would someone want 200 feet in the first place? It will be baned at wars anyway. Besides, wouldn't it be going to slow at 200 feet, and be too inaccurate?

My LBB gets about 175' with a 30 degree angle.
I can imagine a Titan or a Nat Geo gun getting 200' flat with relative ease.

Because gravity pulls down on all nerf darts at the same rate, I need more velocity to push the nerf dart further before it hits the ground. the 100 ft gun would reach its max velocity before 100 feet, the 200 foot gun would reach its max velocity far after the 100 foot gun. What does this mean? it means the dart flies faster, and therefore is harder to dodge then the slower than the dart shot from the 100 ft shooting gun.

tl;dr: farther shooting gun has a farther effective range, even if this is below far below 200 feet.

I'm not trying to hit a person at 200 feet, I'm trying to hit them at 100 feet, but hard. Your same example also applies to the 100 ft shooting gun.

our clan, clan nightshift, has three nat geo guns, otherwise called the exodiakiller. they could probably get 200 feet, i base this on the fact that one of them punctured a screen door at about 50-70 feet. i do agree about the reasoning on why to have a gun shooting 200 feet. with my big blast i dont think ive ever hit someone at over 100 feet, because even though it may get 110+ feet, the effective range is still at around 80 feet.

Actually two, but I digress...
It really all depends on the shooter. You need to be able to aim, and accurately determine where your dart will land. One thing that the vets kinda forget to realize is that flat ranges dont really mean much. I rarely keep my gun flat. No one does. It just makes it a standard measure that allows us to figure out how powerful guns are to each other.
The key to far shots is the dart. It doesnt matter how long your barrel is, or how powerful your gun is if you cant create a good dart. A heavy weight in a mega, perfectly centered can easily go 200+ feet in a national geographic gun. The real key to the power of the NGG (Start using this people its much more convinient) is the release of air, which due to the valve is way quicker than the titan.

Taking Thermodynamics right now, I can honestly say I have never used quarts or liters to measure the volume of a fluid. We use cubic units (m^3 or ft^3). And the use of SI or English units depends on what country you live in. Most US applications are in English units. Everywhere else is usually metric. Still, never used a liter measurement, only .001 m^3.

And technically, a gas's volume is dependent on the container it is stored in. A gas will expand to fill its container. Liquids are theoretically incompressible and have a fixed volume but alter shape to fill the container.

One last thing, is there a code for superscript/subscript? I hate using carets.

EDIT: Yeah, whoever said the Titan air tank was 2.7 quarts is full of it. I would guess it to be just over a pint (~34 in^3).

It wouldn't be going too slow. Speed does not counteract gravity. A dorpped dart should hit the ground at the same time as adrt shot perflectly flat. This means that the dart only has a short time to get where it is going before it lands. To fly 200 ft through the air, a dart usually has to reach 300 fps or so. Other factors are involved, lke bernouli's principle making the dart rise, but these are small.
