I was going over my painted maverick, and played with the slider a bit, and I notice a bit of paint rubbing off, and I've see quite a few people with the same problem. So I'm asking anyone with alot of experince(namely Direct Threat or Forsaken Angel) to tell the rest of us how they keep their paint from rubbing while using their gun....

Foam huh? do you happen to know what Forsaken Angel uses? I saw in one of his videos where he was modding a LS and he used what looked like felt, but I'm not sure....Try using foam on the inside of the parts that rub, and possibly try using multiple layers of clear coat.

I think Direct Threat uses a triple-thick clear coat, or something like that.
For future projects, you might want to try out Vinyl Dye. Instead of putting on a different color coat, it soaks in and changes the color of the plastic. This makes it feel the same, and it doesn't change the thickness (or so I've heard). I haven't used it yet, so I don't know a lot about it. I know Captain Slug uses the Vinyl Dye, so he might be the person to talk to.

I have switched over to using Vinyl dye as the main paint. Then I do hand detailing and then finish with a coat of triple thick clear gloss. To protect the hand paint. As far as protecting paint goes, I used felt on the longshot bolt handles. I can't think of a way to protect the Maverick parts from rubbing.

Which vinyl dye brands are recommended? Also, for hand paint, which kind and brands are recommended? Do you need to sand down the surface a little for vinyl die?

To protect my ls's paintjob, I cut two foam discs from a BBB arrow, and slapped them on under the bolt sliders. Maybe cut some lengthwise and try that.

For anything that your hands are going to touch USE VINYL DYE.
They're all pretty much the same. Duplicolor is the easiest to find.Which vinyl dye brands are recommended?

Yeah, vinyl dye is supposed to be great, but according to Carbon it won't work on things you've already painted. I'm not sure though, you may want to ask.

Ok, i am curious, when you use clear coat does it leave the finish intact, because i don't want a shiny gun.

Instead of gloss clear coat you would want to buy Matte Clear coat. Even still it may leave the gun slightly shinier then without. But it won't be quite as shiney as gloss CC.
With Fusions and vinyl dye you probably don't need the clear coat.
