I know there are many ways that people have been able to get barrels onto the nite-finder, forgive me if it's already been done, but this is a very easy way to crayola barrel your nite-finder.

You will need:
Posted Image
  • Nite-Finder
  • Hot glue gun
  • Crayola marker
  • Screwdriver
  • Sandpaper
  • Exacto-knife
Step 1:
Prepare the Crayola Barrel. Cut the marker on the sections indicated below. Throw the felt stuff away.
Posted Image
It should look like this:
Posted Image

Step 2:
Unscrew your gun. Don't forget the screw by the battery case and don't let any parts fly out when you open it. The guts should look like this:
Posted Image
Then take out the two screws holding the plunger tube down. After you seperate the plunger tube, these goodies will be inside of it:
Posted Image

Step 3:
Now take out the exacto knife and cut this piece:
Posted Image
Sand it so it looks like this:
Posted Image
Make sure the back end of your crayola barrel can fit inside the hole tightly.
Posted Image

Step 4:
Using your exacto knife, carefully scrape out the center of this piece:
Posted Image
Make it look like this:
Posted Image
Then, fit the two pieces together like so:
Posted Image
Now to get rid of some dead space. Fill the three empty areas with hot glue.
Posted Image
So it looks like this:
Posted Image

Step 5:
This step is to make your gun look nicer and a bit more stable. So this part is optional. Take this piece right here:
Posted Image
and make the hole a bit wider by sanding it down like mad so that your crayola barrel can fit into it with ease.
Posted Image

Take the fin that is on top of the stock barrel and break it off.
Posted Image
Take the fin and put it into the gun where to two holes are. Lastly, wrap some e-tape around the barrel so that the annoying crayola logo doesn't show.
Posted Image

Step 6:
Add a stronger spring, lube it up, assemble the plunger tube back on, and screw your gun back together. It should look like this:
Posted Image
Now all it needs is a awesome paintjob like this:

I know you are all wondering about ranges. Ranges are in the mid 60's.

Questions, Comments, Concerns?

Are the ranges flat? And also, what paint did you use because that looks uber bad-ass.

What's better? CPVC, PETG, or this for a Nitefinder?

The ranges are as flat as I can make them. I used flat black krylon fusion.

I really have no experience with PETG so I can't really answer your question. But I like CPVC better because it doesn't leave grooves in your darts.

Why did you shorten the crayola? Other than that this is exactly what I did to mine. However I believe this is the first write up. Nice job and I love the paint.

Shorten? I don't think I shortened it. I kept as much as could. Maybe I cut part of it off that I could've kept. Do you have any pics?

I dont have any to the inside of my nf but i can tell you this. You see the little nub on the back of the marker? You can rip that out with your back teeth. Or at least I always can... Got good teeth? Then remove the cap and rip ot the marker tip and poke the tube of ink out of the back. Then just get a .5 inch drill bit and drill till it goes through. Hope that helps.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind next time I do a nite-finder. I find that sometimes my crayola is a mm too short.

I use silicon spray that you can get at your local hardware store.

Grease? What do you mean by that? Like cooking grease? Don't use cooking grease because it attracts creepy crawlies and it eventually becomes very sticky (It killed my rubik's cube). If your talking WD-40, don't use that stuff. It eats away the rubber on the O-ring. Hope that helps.

Good first mod, but you might want to not use cvpc or another barrel material that will not kill you darts (over time).

Thanks for reading the forums BEFORE you posted. It is obvious who has or has not creeped the forums. It can enough difference for a rough or smooth start.

Yes, similar things have been done, but writeups are always encouraged, especially good ones like this. The disclaimer at the top was just nice.

As for the grooves, if you have access to a dremel, you can use it to sand down the fins inside the crayola, so you don't have the grooves anymore. Just do so very slowly, as the friction will heat up the barrel very quickly, and will deform the thing if you don't do it slowly. As per usual, patience is a key factor in successfully smoothing out the inside of your barrel.

I find that a .5 inch drillbit works best for me... And Its a lot easier than trying to sand it all with a dremel.

I just cut most of the fins off with a exacto-knife, then it's a little rough so I stick my sandpaper in and sand it smooth.

Sorry for the double post, but I feel that this needs its own post. For some strange reason, either it's photobuckets fault or something, one of my pics got messed up. and I can't really edit it because I'm over the picture posting limit. So the part where I showed the picture of the guts should not be the crayola marker. It should be this:

Step 2:
Unscrew your gun. Don't forget the screw by the battery case and don't let any parts fly out when you open it. The guts should look like this:
Posted Image

I really don't know what happened or how to fix it. So if someone could teach me that would be great.
