I'm trying to make Dayko's NF crossbow plunger, but I don't know how to cut a giant sheet of plexiglass and my dad won't believe that using plexiglass works. Also, I don't have any carbon fiber to put together the two NF plungers using KBarker's method. Is there any other way of making a long NF plunger?

If you accidentally clock somebody with a doubleshot, then you're more liable to break the doubleshot than you are to cause serious injury.

For mine, I made the same cuts to two nitefinder plunger rods as Dayko did. But for the two ends I used Krazy Glue then put E-tape around them. When I try to pull the halves apart it seem to hold fine. Although I haven't put it into the actual gun yet so I'm not totally sure if it would work.

I can't really see the cuts in Dayko's picture.

I used my dremel. You don't have to cut a giant piece of Plexy glass. Just cut out a 6"x2 1/2". You want room so you don't cut off your finger. You can also make a whole new plunger rod using a wood dowel, I think this would actually be easier. Wish I thought of this when I was making it :P .

Wood dowel? Brilliant, never thought of it, I'll definently try this when I make mine.

I don't think it's in ACE stores. I tried finding it in their website but I didn't find a brand called BondLoc.

I've been thinking...couldn't one just use a length of wire (possibly with a pull handle on the back) attached to a normal-sized NF plunger rod? It would actually be like some of Angel's mods (for instance, the Eagle Eye), where he converted the cocking-method to a keyring pull string.

Now, one problem that I see is that the wire is going to whip around quite a bit since (when cocked) it will be sticking out quite a bit. However, if one put some sort of guide into a X-bow-style stock (like Dayko's), that would solve that problem.

Also, there may be some problem with the plunger rod not lining up to come out off the hole in the back of the NF (if, indeed, the spring can compress that far). But, perhaps that could be fixed. Or, it may be a non-issue.

Anyone see any additional problems?

Yeah, that's a pretty good idea. One thing though. Do you know how to put together two NF plunger rods without using plexiglass or carbon fiber?

No. I was presenting my idea as an alternative to two rods, while still accomplishing the same overall goal (a longer plunger).

Like I said the easiest way is to buy a wood dowel and screw the plunger head onto that.

I wanted to try the dowel idea, but I didn't want to screw up the plunger head by putting a screw through it.
I can see that it would work though

JB Weld. I got it at Walmart. Holds 2 plastics better than epoxy.

It makes it slippery, and you may need a clap, but it won't break off.

The only thing with the dowel is that you would have to make a catch on it also, but that shouldn't be too hard.

I'm kinda surprised that no one has mentioned fishin' glue yet.

Why not use that, then bend some sheet metal around where the 2 plunger tubes meet and then apply more fishin' glue to the sheet metal?

EDIT: Oh... Plunger RODS. Got it. Sorry. Feel free to ignore the above.

So why exactly can't you make one out of plastic? You have tons of different kinds to choose from. Acrylic ("Plexiglass") is only one of them, and frankly would be one of the worst materials to use for such an abused part.

There's no glue that alone will be able to hold two plunger rods together. You will have to mechanically fasten them, then strengthen that connection with epoxy.

Put strips of metal that run lengthwise across the junction, and then put screws through the strip and plunger on both sides of the junction. I'd use at least 2 strips, on opposing faces of the plunger shaft. The theory is similar to a Crossbow plunger reinforcement, if you've ever seen one of those.
