Hey ya'all. I just won two AT2k's off eBay and I'm freaking happy. Got them for $16 too. Anyways, they are still en-route so I've been tracking down as many AT2k threads as I could. But now I have a question I never did find an anwser to. And that is if I could, and how I could, make a PETG breech. (as it's the only barrel material I have ATM) I know I want to single one of the AT2k's, but then I thought it'll be much better to give it a breech also.

Would it be possible to make a PETG breech? What I'm currently thinking is have thickwalled PETG as the barrel, and cut a slot for a nerf dart, and then cut like 4 inches of mediumwalled PETG, then cut the mediumwalled down the middle so it can expand over the thick walled and cover the slot.

Do you guys think this is possible? Also, the PETG I have is from OMC.

Thanks in advance.

Good question. Ya, I think its possible. Just do what you would do for a cpvc breech or brass breech. Make sure the seals are airtight also. Although, I don't know what you would use for the outside though? 1/2 inch pvc?

PS: not to rub it in but I got 2 At2ks for 13.50 with tax! They sell all the airtech seires at Kohls. If you live near one, you should check it out. :D

My Mom used to work at a Kohls, and I never saw an Nerf gun anywhere. Unless this is a new development? From what I keep hearing there's Airtechs everywhere BUT where I live. :D

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, no this won't work. I'm pretty sure both medium and thick walled PETG have the same OD and therefore can't slide over each other. You can, however, do a simple PETG and PVC breech.

And Galaxy, for a while, Kohls was the only place I knew of where you could find AT2K's on shelves. They usually have a small toy section.

Indeed it won't slide over, I would've been able to test that already. But what I was suggesting was to do one cut lengthwise on the medium walled PETG so it'll fit over. I could use E-tape and etc. to help keep the seal.

Hmm, might have to visit a Kohls again. But I still find it unlikely in my area.

That still won't work.
I would recommend you just throw a coupler on there and nest some of your PETG in 1/2" PVC.

Could I get some specs on the PVC and coupler you are suggesting? I don't have any of either yet. The only PVC in the house has a ID of like an inch.

ARE YOU THE BITCH THAT BID SNIPED ME????????

Hmm well sliding thin wall over thick might do the trick, but just make a rear loading turret.

Don't complain about being sniped. There is basically no downside to it. To avoid someone having the same bid, just bid a crazy number like $3.57, never an even dollar or an even cent amount. Try it out, you might win something.

From my understanding, PETG is extruded, which means that you won't have close enough tolerances for consistent sealing.

I made this one by boring out the ID of 1/2 SCH80 pipe

Looks good... but what did you do? Why did you cut so long a slot in the PVC? I assume that plastic barrel is PETG.

They stopped making the 2k though... so unless your khols has them in stock you are out of luck. I bought all the ones that were at mine... they come in handy.

What I was suggesting was taking 1/2" PVC and nesting PETG in it, using some e-tape. Then glue the 1/2" PVC coupler to the AT2K airtank, like a normal coupler set up.

If you're lucky enough to find PETG at your local aquarium/pet shop, their PETG is like brass, it slide right over eachother. Get 9/16ths, it's the same inner diameter of 17/32 brass, and use 5/8 as the breach mover thing.

They sell PETG in pet shops? Where do you live? Can you find it in big pet stores like Pets Mart?

They sell it at a fish store by my house. Same ID as 17/32" brass and OD as 9/16". I use 1/2" or 19/32" brass for my breeches.

Petro Packaging PETG... 1/2" OD stuff fits right inside OMC's PETG. I just got a sample of two 1' tubes and it's a good fit. I don't have the link on hand, but another member was talking about it in his Recon breech thread so I gave it a shot. Work on it begins tomorrow morning... will let you know how well it works.

MEDIT:

http://www.petropack...m/stocksize.cfm

nerfboi had this in his thread. He basically cut off the tang from the stock barrel which helped guide darts into the barrel, stuffed the Petro PETG into the stock barrel using e-tape to seal it and keep it in place, and put a piece of OMC's PETG on the front end of the gun. The Petro PETG works as an actuator, pushing the dart into OMC's PETG. It looks simple enough to do...

I wouldn't recommend using PETG to make the whole breech. It's not terribly durable and is prone to cracking. This is why most people nest it inside a length of SCH40 PVC (secondary reason being compatibility with pipe fittings).

Looks good... but what did you do? Why did you cut so long a slot in the PVC? I assume that plastic barrel is PETG.

I used a lathe to bore out the ID to match the OD of PETG tube. I used a manual knee mill to cut the slot.
Then I cut a little locking tab and super glued it to the PETG.
The slot has to be kind of long because the PETG extends all of the way back to the end of the pipe section. So when slid forward it's still covering the forward inch of the slot.

I later made a much heftier version that has an interchangeable barrel.

I'll keep that in mind, I've got some sch40 pvc laying around which I can nest it in. But for my Recon, there's not much room inside for the actual breech to be made of pvc. I'll try brass when my semester's finished.
