I've been working with some 1/4 vinyl tubing and some connectors and I was wondering if you needed to goop/glue them in to make them air tight? I can't fill the chamber so I was wondering if that was the problem.

I always seal them with hot glue however Im sure that goop would work much better...

They work fine without any glues or anything for me. Piney, imaseoulman, or CS to get specifics.

I use 1/8 nylon barbs for the tubing, works fine as of now.

It depends. Are you using barbed connectors or instant tube fittings? With instant tube fittings, you don't need anything, just shove the tubing in as far as you can. If you're using barbed connectors, it depends on how well the tubing fits over your barbs. Some of my barbs fit so tightly that they are a pain to get on, but don't need anything else. Other or my barbs don't seem to hold as well. However, I would use small zip-ties instead of an adhevise. Plumber's Goop didn't work for me. Epoxy worked about 80% of the time. Zip-ties worked 100% of the time and are removable (epoxy isn't so easy to get off).

But just to clarify, the manufacturer usually recommends that you use some sort of clamp/tie after connecting them, but for our applications, it's not always (usually not) necessary. Just try it without zip-ties first and see if it holds air.

With instant tube fittings, you don't need anything, just shove the tubing in as far as you can.

Just wanted to note that instant tube fittings are only compatible with rigid and semi-rigid tubing.

And if you're using the right kind of tubing with the right kind of fittings (and clamps) then you shouldn't have to use any kind of adhesive or sealant. Sealants are only used on threaded fitting ends.

the packages say quick connectors So I have no idea if they are barbed or otherwise. I can take them off easily enough. I did solve the problem though. the section of tubing the leak was coming from was being bent and being pulled out slightly so I replaced it. No problems now and my gun holds pressure just fine with no apparent decrease noticeable. I am wondering though, where would you apply the zipties Imaseoulman? I'm sorry if this sounds noobish but I couldn't find a thorough explanation of these sorts of processes on the forum and this is my first time working with this kind of stuff.

Just so you know barbed connectors are a total bitch to get on, or at least the ones I have are. Get instant tube fittings like imaseolman described.

Look:

1. If your "quick connectors" slip over your tubing, they are instant tube fittings and do not need clamps, zip ties, or anything. Also, there would be no place to put zip ties or clamps.

2. If your "quick connectors" slip into your tubing, they are barbed connectors. You may need some sort of clamp, zip tie, and/or adhesive.

I'm guessing you have the former rather than the latter. And, yes, the instructions say that you need a clean cut for the tubing to seat well: bent and/or extremely ragged cuts generally prevent a good seal.
