WOLFMOTHER

Most of their songs were released 2004, fairly new, but they did win a Grammy in 2007.

Meh, I can't get too excited about new music. I love Bartok, Debussy, and Stravinsky, but I won't touch anything more modern.

Copland?

I love the sound of some of the softer metal, but I can't stand screamo vocals.

But dang... is it just me, or is some of Radiohead's stuff like really good?

Well, he's more recent, but not really more modern. I'd call him neoclassical.

I pretty much scorn new bands. I might be able to get into "empty walls", but I can't agree that it is a song because of the simple fact that it has like 10 lyrics. Sixx A.M. is awful, I think. All new bands sound almost exactly the same. They usually have some sort of acoustic guitar part in the song, then the rest is power chords, and then a 5 note solo. Black Tide is the only exception I can think of off the top of my head. They are pretty great.

Well if you listen the same type of genre for too long and it's no surprise the songs will start sounding verbatim.

I agree with bomberman, but I hate death metal vocals. There are lot of great death metal guitarists that I really like, but I can't stand screaming and growling vocals.

Same here dude.

I avoid that crap at all I costs. Everything I've heard that sounds like that, I have heard on the radio in the 5 minutes I am in my car. While I'm at it, I might as well say that I hate another band that isn't modern, but they have a very similar structure in a lot of their songs that I've heard. Metallica. I HATE Metallica. You can only use so much wah wah on a solo and keep it awesome, and they passed that limit too many times.

By saying newer music you are elimaniting a ton of song choices. Take for example, the Foo Fighter's older stuff. Monkey Wrench, Learn to Fly, I mean, come on. Why limit the selection so much.

Anyway, If you want metal with a mix of screamo (but still understandable) vocals and normal vocals, try Diecast. Fade Away by them is really good song.

Also go with Foo Fighter's new album, Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace. Stranger Things Have Happened, The Pretender, Summer's End, Let it Die, and Home are my favorites off of that album.

Damn near all of Radiohead's stuff is good. I just listen to In Rainbows all the way through for the first time in awhile. It is awesome. Plus you can't go wrong with OK Computer.

900th post. Wow, already I'm a whore.

FA, great minds think alike. Look at my post ;)

Not someth'in to brag about buddy.

EDIT: The lead singer of Daughtry is a bald fag.

Oh, come on. He's certainly not THAT bad.

Yes he is, no just stop yourself right there... When I listen to him sing I almost want the guy from No Country For Old Men to come out and kill me with his Co2 contraption...

I like to listen to Between the Buried and me, Dream Theater, and Dragonforce.

If you have listened to Through the Fire and Flames you have heard all of ther songs in my book, "omg my muzick iz totally teh good d00d... we play so fazt we roxxors your sox !!!!!1111one"

I listen to early 80's to early 90's rock and metal. I'll even throw in some Zeppilin, Sabbath, Doors, and some others that elude me right now. To each his own I suppose.

If you're looking for lighter rock you might want to try Keane. They have a really unique writing style and sound, all around good. Other lighter favorites are The Flaming Lips, The Verve, E.S. Posthumus.

Radiohead is a strange band. They can span from awesome riffs to some of the most depressing music I've ever listened to. ALWAYS worth a shot, Thom Yorke is a monster. Another great British band is Muse, they're just amazing.

Heavier music can get fun with stuff like Arch Enemy, Devin Townsend, Lamb of God, etc. No real specific genre I like, but Devin Townsend is really slow and melodic, while AE and LoG are more riff oriented and heavy. All quality metal though.

I've gotta pay homage to Maynard and say that I adore A Perfect Circle. Tool's good too, but I personally like APC's' style better. Start with the album Mer de Noms if you're gonna check them out, it's really great.

Now for disagreements. Dragonforce is really only fun to laugh at, they're mindless shredding. As far as classical stuff goes, I can't stand modern classical like Bartok. I'm a renaissance kinda guy, I sing a lot of baroque as well, so my tastes are really for the more melodic side of "classical".

A lot of new bands these days are mindless metal bands or just par rock bands. Fewer things stand out as really good, but it's really all up to you. The best tool for finding music for me has been www.pandora.com, it's found me a ton of interesting new bands. Have fun.

Bang Camaro. Look them up. If any of you recognize them it would probably be from Guitar Hero II. The band is comprised of roughly 20 members, a regular band, and a full chorus. The guitarist plays on an old marshal stack so it has the feel of 80's Metal. Probably the best band I've heard in years.

good call.

If you want to fill up your ipod, do what I did: hand it to your friend and say "dump your entire music library on this, and then give it back to me" Wash, rinse, repeat, then plug it into your computer, delete the redundancies, and enjoy your full ipod. The benefit is, you may find that you like some stuff that you've never even heard of.

Alice came to the fork in the road.
"Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

I'm very confused. 2006 is old? Good music should be relevant for years, look at bands like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Black Sabbath, etc. People still listen to their music, they still have a ton of fans. A lot of new bands that come up are just trendy for a while and then they're gone, no one remembers them. Not saying that there aren't any new bands that I do like, but these bands that get really big for a year or two and then disappear can't really be that good.

For all of you questioning my question, I'm not saying past 2006 is old I was just wondering what was like "new new" that youve heard and liked. I'm not hating on the classics or anything I was just throwing a question out there for you guys to get into.

I like a lot of metal, and a lot of punk/ ska/ new wave. But not gay metal and punk/ ska/ new wave. Lenny still rocks the mothers of world leaders, and Black Sabbath still gives priests testicular cancer.

Don't talk shit about hip hop, unless you know anything about the genre, I assume 99.3% of you absolutely don't know anything about it except what you hear on the radio.

Rock is a genre with a similar amount of shitty acts.

Bam. I'd have to agree with tofu on this one. Many, many MANY people are gay about this. They think that Zed Lepplin and Ozzy Sabbath are the only good bands ever to exist. They get a nice fat middle finger from me and maybe the less arrogant ones get a note written in blood telling them to listen to some Justice, Daft Punk, or whatever else suits my fancy.

Edit:

I'm always right.

Edit edit:

Oh and, rust in peace, that bands name is Sodom, as in sodomy, as in buttsex. hahahaha.
