Like the topic title asks, has anyone made a working rifle scope for their nerf gun? I hear alot of people saying that the scope on the longshot is a P.O.S, so naturally I figured someone made something to fix this. If it's already been made, please just send a link cause that search funtions loves me so much If not then post your Ideas, thoughts, pics, info on the nerf scope, etc. on here.

If I'm posting on the wrong Forum then excuse me for not knowing and it would be helpful to point me in the right direction.

Also, if there isn't aready a person who made a working scope, then I would like to challenge anyone to be the frist one to make a working scope.

No nerf gun would benefit from zoom, which I assume is what you mean when you say a rifle scope.

Yeah, a working scope won't benefit a nerf gun. Also, if you want to see one made and challenge other people to do so, why don't you take a stab at it?

yeah, but I've seen guys make very powerful guns, so you would think that they need it to make a percise shot, or does nobody care about accuracy anymore? If that were the case then why do I see guys putting wicked lasers on their guns? (even thought it was one or two guys)

I would but I'm having a hard time finding the toy that I had in mind to use for this. My other idea was to use magnifying lenses and CVPC pipe, but I don't see that working out too well.....

I didn't want my first post to be a reply to a dumb thread, but whatever...

A nerf gun wouldn't benefit from a scope because it's not accurate enough. This cannot be "fixed" either, because unlike conventional firearm bullets, nerf darts vary too much from one another to produce an exactly repeatable shot each time - not to mention any other variables of a nerf blaster.

Besides, you should only use a scope over 100 yards, the most powerful nerf guns just reach over 100 feet. It's completely useless.

And here I thought you guys were clever enough to reach beyond 100 feet. Maybe I should have asked for them to make the gun before the scope? Either way the scope I had in mind would still look nice on the gun I had in mind....we'll just have to see what happens, sorry to make yet another stupid post, I'm learning.

Oh we can and have. It's just that the projectiles (which weigh less than 2 grams) are not going to hit anything reliably past 120 feet. You also wouldn't be able to shoot anyone with such a thing at close range because it would leave a large bruise. And that would disallow its use at Nerf Wars.
And guess what, the whole point of modifying blasters is to make them more effective for war use. Not to make them so powerful that you can't use them.

Scopes are stupid. Put more effort into making iron sights and improving the accuracy of your blaster and the darts themselves.

I used the lens from the RC's light, and a NF lens in a tube in the light case, then flipped the clip thing. It has no magnification, and makes the image upside down, but is accurate (same as normal). Heck it amuses my lil' bro.

A well-modded Titan can reach 220 feet = 73 yards. That is not long enough to use a zoom. At the most, a sight with simple crosshairs might be useful. At that point, you're better off using a simple "iron" sight, or simply looking down your accessory rail. Of course, that's really only telling you where the gun is pointing. All nerf guns have varying degrees of accuracy. A well-modded one may have very consistent trajectories, but those trajectories will be distinctly curved. At the ranges you're working with, you might as well just eyeball it.

Now, many people do use lasers. This is because lasers are awesome. You can't go wrong with lasers, as long as you keep in mind that if you're close enough for the laser to point at more or less the hit location, a half-blind monkey could point the gun in the right direction anyway.

I confess that I do have a red dot sight for my Longshot. This is because I like it. It's hardly more effective than just looking down the rail.

It seems that you're the type of person who makes spud guns that shoot darts. Like 'Slug said most of us modify guns to be used in wars, and all of us should. Most guns that are allowed in wars won't shoot past 100', and even if they do you wouldn't be shooting at anything farther than maybe 70'. Farther than that and the person can easily dodge it because it's moving so slowly.

Go ahead and try, but I don't think anyone will really want/use one.

Whose titan reachs 220 feet and what are they shooting? I also have a red dot sight, looks cool but it's heavy and useless. The worst $25 dollars I have spent on nerf so far. not to say I have made only good purchases, but it's really that useless. You could probably throw it at a stray if it attacked you at the park!

A singled titan can hit 200 feet, but they're usually banned in wars, and even a simple mod like taping on a Nite Finder barrel on a Titan could be deadly with a stefan. A longshot only hits 100 feet maximum. A Rapid Fire Rifle sucks, and can't even get near 100 feet and there aren't much possible mods to improve its performance. Long story short, There is no such thing as a Nerf rifle that can reach the effective range of a real gun scope.

It may not stop me from trying though Frost Vectron that should be your signature man It's true I should contribute to the site, but the perpose of this site should also be helping others in how to make crappy plastic guns, better. I feel in order to do so you should gather as much info as you can before making something that some one ALREADY did. Once again, thank you everyone, and now I'm better informed.

I would have to agree that a scope on a Nerf gun is only good for cosmetic s. If you had a blaster that could fire even past 100 feet the scope would be usless since Nerf Darts tend to drop and arc a lot. Not to mention be moved easily by wind. Personally I have a Laser sight, airsoft scope & and light pod attached to my primary but I LARP not Nerf War for the most part. I love my laser sight. I spend less time aiming and rarely miss. I also do a lot of night battles so it has more use to me than most. The scope is mostly for looks and game rules advantage.

Yup. The way I see it is that everything and anything that I have done that is NERF related and somewhat useful gets posted on this site. I don't hold back anything. Things like minor repairs and modifications are all posted here. I think that if everyone had this mentality, then there'd be no need to ask if anybody has done this or made that since if they were, they would be posted. Anything that wasn't posted wouldn't have been done yet, and it'd be up to you and me to figure it out and post it up.

I guess this isn't quite the case, though, so it's necessary to ask once in a while. Just some food for thought. This is my mentality when I log into the 'Haven.

As far as scopes go, some people love them and others hate them. Are they practical? Probably not (but neither are fancy paintjobs or LEDs on Nerf guns, but we love our customization regardless of practicality). Building a rifle scope would probably be a lot more trouble than it's worth, though. I'd go for sights rather than scopes. If you're dead set on using a scope, go visit Wal-Mart. They have cheap Tasco scopes for under $15 the last time I was there. I think that is a lot easier than hunting down lenses and crap to build your own scope.

yeah, your right about just buying one, but I thought it would be neat to build a rifle scope that can zoom in and out and fold up, AND has the rial attachment......but mayber it's too silly and I should think on my DTG/Firefly intergration with exthended clip modd. Now has anyone done THAT one!?hmmmm....
