Hey, I'm working on my 1st homemade, but want try something awesome for the second. I'm looking to make a bolt action homemade based off a M40A3 sniperr rifle. I want it to be bolt action, with nice accuracy/range. I have an Idea in my head. It would be the same thing as the FAR mechanism, but clipless, and shell-less.

Would this work while still maintaining looks of a M40A3, but performing well at the same time?

EDIT- By shell I mean for the darts, not the shell of the blaster.

Just buy an airsoft shell and integrate a SNAP made of thinwall 1" PVC.

Personally, I'd say don't try and make it look like anything, as all that does is impose arbitrary restrictions on your design, for no real gain.

Design around function. After all, this is Nerf.

Well, the inside could be the hardest part. The shell would be no problem. THe handle could be 2 PVC elbows which connect to the stock. Then the complicated plunger and tube. '.'

Just carefully look over the FAR plans for ideas. Use the same idea for the bolt and plunger, just change the dimensions to fit a regular dart. And don't try to make it look like anything, because the design elements used in guns and and the design elements used in nerf guns are totally different. Just like to point out that in a gun the potential energy is already stored in the bullet shell, but with nerf, the gun has to create the energy, not the round being fired.

Well, if you would like to use a pump gun you can put the pump as the forward grip, a bolt action breech for the bolt action and use a pvc stock. Or you could stop whacking off to guns and get out to a war (pumped for Saturday).
