The At1k is the Oliver Twist of the Airtech Line. It's always been neglected and most modders can never squeeze much out of it. I finally finished a mod for it and would like to share it with you guys, I risked ruining the damned thing in order to get a bigger air output.

I know similar things have been done before, but there are no writeups to be found on NH. Anywho, without further ado...

Here's what you'll need:
- Airtech 1000.
- Four 3.5" sections of PETG, Brass, PVC or CPVC.
- Epoxy, Fishin' Glue, Goop or whatever adhesive you see fit.
- A Dremel.
- Utility knife.
- Small Dremel grinding bit and cutting bit of your choice.
- A screwdriver.
- E-Tape
- One 5/16"x7/16"x1/16" Rubber O-Ring.

Okay, let's get to work by opening the blaster up. There's a plastic ring that keeps the back together, just cut through that with a utility knife:

Posted Image

Looks like how you would think it looks, doesn't it? Now let's get to the modding!

The turret will be the first part of business, now take it out. It will look like this:

Posted Image

Bust out your Dremel and cut off most of the pegs, but keep enough for E-Taping later:

Posted Image

Next, you'll need that small grinding bit I mentioned earlier. With it, make the Airholes in the turret a bit wider. You could also use a drill with this:

Posted Image

Here's that E-Tape I mentioned earlier, just enough for the PETG to fit snugly on the pegs:

Posted Image

Now, bust out your adhesive of choice and apply a layer of it on each of the E-Taped pegs. Then, shove the barrels on and wipe off any excess glue with your finger:

Posted Image

Leave the turret to dry, now let's get to work on the plunger tube. Pull it out of the shell, here's a pic of the front end, which is what we'll be focusing on:

Posted Image

Pop out the rubber tab that seals the plunger tube and turret. Now, it will look like this:

Posted Image

Bust out your Dremel again, remember to wear protective glasses, work gloves and tighter clothing so there's nothing in your way that could get caught on the wheel. Dremel out the end of the plunger tube so it looks like this:

Posted Image

If you're this far into the mod and don't want to do it anymore, TOO BAD! Dremel out the shell to allow the new O-Ring to fit:

Posted Image

You're almost done, cover the end of the plunger tube in glue. Just a thin layer so the O-ring will fit on:

Posted Image

Put the O-Ring over the end of the plunger, it will stretch a bit, but it should fit. Finally, fit it all back in the shell and use a screwdriver or some other tool to push the O-ring against the turret as best you can without getting any glue on the turret itself:

Posted Image

Put the other side of the shell on, screw it back together and you're done:

Ranges: After hitting my wall with amazing power (at least for a 1K), I went out to test ranges. With a couple 20' measuring tapes and a 120' backyard, I did a few tests. All of which were done with a 1.5" Sluggy-Type Stefan in fairly warm weather (it was humid, but not too humid) and little wind:
45'
42'
48'
46'
45'
226
Average range: 45.2"

I sized down the pics, so if they're too big it's probably your monitor.

Anyway, hope y'all like the thing. DD out... Poof.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. A good nerf gun is like a good woman. It shouldn't require extra lubrication.

I don't see any of the pictures. It says, "This image or video has been moved or deleted"

Good job! It looks very clean.

Your pictures don't work, at least for me.

Pics are better now. Nice mod, I did something similar with my TTG plunger tube.

Horray! Another old gun mod!

Is it a springer or a air gun, like the other AT guns? I don't see a pump or a tab to cock it.

thaygor: all i remimber is pumping it hard and shooting than trying to pump again

Wow nice mod I can't wait untill you get the ranges. I was thinking of doing something like this. Bobafan you pull back on the end to cock it so it is a springer.

It's dried by now, but not fully cured. I fired it at the wall and it hit it with an amazing velocity for a blaster like this. Honestly, I think this thing could hit in the 50's. For a 1K, that's kinda scary and it beats the hell out of the Mav.

If I didn't see your name, I would of thought it was a FA mod. Great writeup for a early gun.

To fire this gun, you simply pull the trigger?

If so, this gun REALLY reminds me of incredibly old AirZone guns. I don't know if anybody else remembers them...

Just for reference: my friend had one of these. You cock it by pulling on the back of it, then the trigger releases it.
My friend's had awful range, so 50ft is an achievement.

I saw a gun a lot like this in Big Lots one time. It's the Supermaxx 350. They had them for 5 bucks, I contemplated buying one but decided not to.

EDIT: there is no "new" version, I made a mistake.

Anytime you get the chance, buy one. Stock, it's not bad for indoor wars with the turret and good stock range. Modified, it would be good for indoor wars as well, but it's more of a novelty gun than anything.

Um, I think you want to buy one, not but one. Anyway, it's nice to see a mod about the air tech 1000. Good job deaddumpster.

What O ring are you gluing to the plunger tube, is it the one that is screwed onto the plunger itself?
Sorry for asking stupid questions.

DO NOT quote unnecessary shit, and don't pre-apologize for things. It makes it look like "hey I know I shouldn't do this, but fuck you I'm doing it anyway."

Uh-Oh.

A] Don't EVER insult the gods!

B] If you'd READ the parts list you know the size of the O-Ring. You should be able to find it at your local hardware store.

C] You DO know OMC is an Admin, right?

EDIT: If you behave from here on in and be more careful, you might survive.

Well, being the dumbass I am, I did not check to see whether the person I was ripping into was a mod or not. I now wait patiently for my demise as a user.
